Coming Back To Life
Misunderstandings. That's all that was left between them. Both of them held their ego high, refusing to bend down, refusing to acknowledge the string which kept them together. They refused to talk even though the anger had subsided.
Swayam sat on his window pane staring into the night, random thoughts scampering around his head. Not that his life made much sense to him now. Things had gone haywire in the past few days and he couldn't even analyse what went wrong. He sighed. If only he had kept his calm and acted like a decent human being. Maybe things could have been slightly better.
Where were you when I was burned and broken
While the days slipped by from my window watching
Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
Sharon was confused. Was there any base to their fight? Yes maybe. Swayam believed a third person over her and had the audacity to pick a fight based on what he heard. Didn't he realise how it would sting her? Did it not matter to him?
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun
Sharon knew Swayam would have realised his fault by now and might probably be feeling guilty about it. Well, he had to do something about it, take a step or else she was sure things wouldn't get sorted between them.
Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
Sharon was lost. Lost without him. The world felt strangely cold to her without him. Not like she hadn't faced this before. For a long time she had had the walls around her, obstructing the coldness from freezing her heart. Stone was any day better than ice. But this was the story before Swayam barged into her life, weakening her defences as he did. A drop leaked out of her eyes like those from the clouds outside. The cold from the November rain was getting to her. Reminding her of the void which had formed in her life. Only one thought resounded in her mind. Why wasn't Swayam here now?
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life
Swayam wiped the tear which had made its way out of his eyes without his knowledge. He was incapable of doing this anymore. The division between them was eating him from inside. The communication gap between them had opened his eyes to the truth and had paved a path for him to come out of this misery. He was infallibly in love with her and yet had ended up hurting her. Now he had to bring back their relationship on track. Apologize and get back together. Come back to life.
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight...into the shining sun
Sharon's phone beeped. A message from Swayam "Why are we doing THIS?" she smiled a bit. She knew it was time. Time she let the walls drop back again. He was going to come soon. The wait had begun, the wait to complete each other once again. Did she forgive him? Didn't matter, for it was him over any grudge. As the bell rang, she jumped up and rushed to open the door. There he stood, drenched head to toe, his wet eyes boring into hers.
The November rain didn't feel so chilly anymore.
