Ke Ban Gaye Ho Tum Mere Khuda (Kriyaansh O/S - The 'Khuda Jaane performance from Rey's point of view)
The disappointment of the crowd was palpable. He knew that this performance was much awaited by everyone, but that was apparently of no value for Kriya. It was just like Kriya, to commit to something and then back out at the last minute, but this time, her actions could prove to be fatal for their dreams, and he would never forgive her for that.
She might be stick somewhere. It's not necessarily her fault.' A part of him said.
That doesn't explain why she couldn't at least inform someone before going.' The rest of him angrily argued back, as the beginning bars of the song started playing.
Just concentrate on your performance Rey, Kriya can...Kriya?!'
He stared at the girl who had just run on the stage, her expression one of nervousness mixed with relief.
Reached here finally, have you?' he thought angrily, before sighing inaudibly.
Leave it Rey, we'll deal with it later.' He decided, pushing back all his anger to the very back of his mind, as the crowd cheered in delight, and nodded to her, signalling the beginning of their duet.
"Sajde mein yoon hi jhukta hoo,
tumpe hi aake rukta hoo.
Kya ye sabko hota hai?"
Despite the anger he felt, despite the pain he had experienced because of her two years ago, and despite his reluctance to letting her in his heart again, he could feel something old, buried, but magical resurface in his heart as the two of them moved in perfect synchronization across the stage. Dancing with her had always been effortless, and that hadn't changed at all in the time they had spent apart. Here, on the stage, dancing with her, it felt as if she was still his Kr-
No, she wasn't anything to him anymore, other than someone he had to work with to make his dreams come true.
"Humko kya lena hai sabse,
Tumse hin sab baatein abse.
Ban gaye ho tum meri dua"
She was nothing to him, but he couldn't help but compare this Kriya to the Kriya he'd once loved. Two years in New York had definitely honed her dancing skills to utter perfection. While she had always been a delight to dance with, it was positively mesmerising to watch her as her body fluidly created magic on the stage.
"Khuda jaane ke, main fida hoon.
Khuda jaane main mit gaya.
Khuda jaane ke kyun hua ye,
Ki ban gaye ho tum mere Khuda"
As she gracefully stretched her arm, his eyes fell on her leg, or rather, her bandaged leg.
What..? Is she hurt? Is that why...?'
He stared at Kriya as she jumped into his arms in preparation for their next step. Her leg definitely seemed swollen, which he knew from experience as a dancer, had to be somewhat painful, and dancing the way she was with an injured leg was...well, amazing was the best word he could come up with at the moment.
He looked in her eyes, trying to understand why she would dance with an injury, when it had to be painful! There was something there which told his heart that she did it for him, for his dream, for their college, but even as he recognised her love for their friends and St. Louis, he refused to acknowledge that he could be a reason too. After all, why would she do it for him? She didn't love him, he knew that well.
Before he could try to comprehend the situation any further, he realised that they were still on stage, and injury or not, they couldn't abandon their performance now.
But he couldn't stop glancing at her and her face, and when he saw her face contort in pain, he immediately decided to improvise, and lifted her in his arms, his eyes asking her silently if she ws alright. She nodded minutely, as he proceeded to set her down on the stage.
"Dil kahe ke aaj to,
chupa lo tum panahon mein,
ke darr hai tum ko kho doonga.
Dil kahe ki sambhal zara.
khushi ko na nazar laga,
Ke darr hai mein to ro dunga."
He couldn't help but marvel at her courage, her tolerance. He knew by the way pain had flashed in her eyes moments ago, that her injury had to be very painful, yet now her face didn't show a single sign that said that she was in pain.
She truly is amazing.' He thought in wonder, as he pulled her close to himself.
" Karti hoon sau vaade tum se,
bandhe dil ke dhaage tum se,
yeh tumhe na jane kya hua."
"Sajde mein yoon hi jhukta hoo,
tumpe hi aake rukta hoo.
Kya ye sabko hota hai?"
"Humko kya lena hai sabse,
Tumse hin sab baatein abse.
Ban gaye ho tum meri dua"
"Khuda jaane ke, main fida hoon.
Khuda jaane main mit gaya."
He took extra care to be gentle as he set her on the stage, not wanting to cause her any pain, yet he noticed a small, pained grimace on her face, and somehow, it felt as if he himself was in pain too...
Khuda jaane ke kyun hua ye,
Ki ban gaye ho tum mere khuda"
He glanced at her as the song came to its end, just in time to catch her losing her balance as her injured leg finally gave way, and rushed to catch her before she fell.
He could hear the crowd cheering, roaring and clapping for them, but all he could think of at the moment was to get Kriya to the hospital as soon as possible, as her pain was now evident on her face as she tried to stand. Without even giving it a second thought, he automatically wrapped his hand around her arm to support her.
He could feel her eyes on him, knew that she was staring, but he couldn't even think of facing her. He had thought such terrible thoughts about her today, had felt so angry with her today, but he could feel all his anger dissolving into gratitude and guilt now, as he thought back to their performance, and her injured leg, her pained expression. He glanced at her as their friends entered the stage, and all he could think was-
Thank you, Kriya. I'm so sorry.'
