Entry 10 : Challenges and Distances
Distance, that's what they needed right now, but it was painful to stay away after seeing each other after 1 whole year. A year filled with loneliness, wait and exasperation. Exactly, that's how both defined it, a year filled with wait, which was painful, very much painful. And the biggest thing was, they themselves decided to stay apart just to prove their thrones.
She rubbed her arms, an eerie feeling getting on her nerves as the silence was leading this meeting to nowhere. She pressed her lips in a hard line as she saw him struggle with the same feeling. If he is having nothing to say then why he wanted to meet her? And this was probably the dumbest question as she herself was so desperate to meet him. After a year they were meeting and they had nothing much to say, WOW! She shoved her hands in air, imaginary.
"So, Ermmm...How is your Mom?" He asked her, just to fill in something.
And she hold her breath back, did he saw her imaginary shoving her hands? She closed her mouth, watching him look here and there.
"Mom is fine. I am happy you think so much about her." She said curtly, yet maintaining the sarcasm. Exactly, they were meeting after awful 1 year and he asks about her mom, but then she won't blame him fully, that's how he was- Not so Romeo types. In fact he never was romantic, and she realized it on the last day of their training when she expected him to propose her but nothing happened, in turn they both challenged to be ahead of each other, to be on top positions of their respective companies.
He chuckled hearing her reply, obviously the sarcasm didn't went unnoticed by him. This was the Kriya he knew, always playing on front foot. And even after so many months she was same, the same Kriya he loved challenging.
"Yep, so how is your company going on? I mean I hear so much about the progress in market stats"
He asks her, watching her imaginary rolling her eyes at his question. He knew she was getting irritated, But that was what he liked the most and he wanted to take it all out today.
"Company Stats? So you keep a watch on my Company's stats Reyaansh?" She replied in her ever-royal way, obviously not forgetting to roll her eyes at the end.
"Yes, I think It is necessary in business, to keep an eye on what the opposite firms are doing" He replied genuinely, keeping back the urge to hug her in the moment.
Her face dropped hearing the word "Opposite", she hated how easily she gets swayed each time when she is with him and it's always him bringing her back to reality.
No matter how deeper the feelings were, but the fact remains the same, they were leading persons of two rival companies, fighting in this hustle of mass money making. Past whole year was just not a wait- but was for establishing their individuality, to be ahead of each other. Despite of staying kilometers apart, this was the thing which kept them close, probably the only thing which kept them in their circles.
"My company is going well. And yours?" She spoke, breaking out from her trance and immediately regretting, obviously she knew how his company was, how he has been, how his company struggled from a fall after reaching the heights.
He looked at her immediately, reading her eyes. "My company is doing fine now...Pretty much." He added with a smile.
And she smiled weakly, feeling guilty; this is not the Reyaansh whom she knew. That Reyaansh was never dejected, He knew how to win.
She looked at his face, seeing how drastically he has changed, peeled off, tired, wanting love.
"No, Your Company shouldn't do fine... It should be doing best. Remember, That Challenge?" She spoke immediately, leaving him baffled.
"Ye-ah... Why?"
"Let's renew it. After 3 months, we will see who is at top. And the winner can ask the other to do anything." She added with a smile.
"Oh, Challenge Miss Ghai? Bring it on. Then I think I'll see you from the top next time" He replied with charm. And she smiled at her inner conscience. That's what she wanted, to see him back.
Bidding her a good bye, he stood up from the pavement, walking away. And she was left numb; probably this was their fate, Distance and Challenges, which they needed for their individual growth. But this never questioned the feelings they have for each other.
"See you soon Rey" She said with a thin water film covering her view. She looked at his disappearing form, she do wished to hug him once. To just let all their distances merged into a thin line. But then as they say, Love carries pain hidden in its emotions' their story was the same, their love had pains of Distance and Challenges, and they are the reason of it being alive also.
