The Birth of Siddhartha Goutama.
The king proceeded briskly to Aambhik's chamber. His mind, already worried on how to face the marauding army of the Yavana emperor, was even more disturbed by this news.A brisk walk brought him to the portals of Aambhik's chamber. His soldiers had apparently sighted the Yavana soldiers there. But the prince was not present in his chamber. The king immediately searched all the rooms adjacent to the prince's chamber. The prince, however was not anywhere. It implicated that Aambhik could be in the gupta vishesh kaksha ( secret meeting chamber ).But why was he there if it was the truth, wondered the king?
The king was very confused by now.Questions like angry bees, were buzzing in his mind.He silently went and opened the door of the vishesh kaksha. The creaking sound of the door, made the occupants of the chamber cringe in panic.Ambiraj became stunned seeing the people inside.Inside indeed were two Yavana soldiers, the prince and his important commanders and mantris. It was clear that some major conspiracy was being hatched. The king spoke,
Ambiraj : Yahan kya ho raha hain ?? Yeh doh pararashtriyon ( aliens ) se bhet kyun ho rahi hai ? Kya woh Yavana hain ?? Hume kissine bataya kyun nahi ? Mahamantri, Kumar, hamare prashnon ka uttar deejiye.
The sudden arrival of the king stunned everyone.Never in their dreams, had Aambhik and his cronies thought that the king would catch them red-handed.Aambhik who was happily discussing the future mode of action with the Greek ambassadors, was caught off-guard.The king's officials, commanders and courtiers, were red-faced,as if they had done a grave sin.No one spoke.Silence reigned.Aambhik, gathered his wits and went to the king.
Aambhik : Pitaashri, yaha kuchh bhi anaitik nahi chal raha thha.Aap chintaa mat keejiye.Hum Mahamahim Yavana Samrat Sikander se samjhauta kar rahe hain, taki woh humare shantipriya rajya par aakraman naa kare.Hume koi yuddha nahi chahiye.Maine aapko iss kaaranvarsh bataya nahi, kyunki aap ki prakruti aswastha hain, tatha aap dainandin ( day-to day ) kaaryon ko samjhne ke liye vruddha ( old ) ho chuke hain.
Ambiraj( with anger ) : Hum vruddha ho gaye ho, par hum jaante hain ki humare rajya ke liye kya uttam hain.Hume kisi bhi Yavanoh se samjhauta nahi chahiye.Woh Aryavrata ke hita ke liye ghaatak ho sakte hain.Aane do unn Yavanoh ko apni sena ke saath, aur hum unka saamna avashya karenge.Yeh charcha turant samaapt ki jaaye.
The Greeks looked very embarrassed. They had not expected such humiliation from the king of Gandhara. They had not expected the king to get to know their presence in his palace itself. The meeting was forcibly ended. However the Greeks were not expelled as the king had wished.
Fate,it is said plays its own games.Man proposes, while God disposes. When greed overcomes a man,it causes his downfall. But if greed along with revenge overcomes a man, he self initiates his destruction.Greed, when invoked to its highest level, brings misery and downfall.
Aambhik and his cronies held a conclave after the departure of the king.Evidently upset by the turn of events, some conspiracy was being planned to hold back the Greeks from leaving. The night passed, eerily and silently.Silence prevailed in the palace, except in Aambhik's chamber. In the middle of the night,a screaming voice was heard from the king's chamber, accompanied by sounds of clinking armour and swords. The moonlit sky played host to the commotion in the chamber. The sudden sounds abruptly ceased as they had srated. Then all became silent. The noises subsided in the palace.Absolute silence reigned.
Next morning, shrieks were heard from the king's chamber.Hearing the commotion, the Amartya barged in the king's room.He looked on in shock.
The king of Gandhara,Raja Ambiraj was dead...
