First,i thought of finishing the story in 15chapters,looks like i have got enough material to drag further 10 chapters.

Very nice Avantika. I found all the scenes between Chandini very beautiful and dreamy. I loved the way Morni gave Nandini the ancestral Kangan, a symbol of her acceptance of Chandini's relationship and accepting her into the family fold by considering her as her own daughter. Similarly, another scene I loved very much was Nandini muttering in Tamil and Chandra is completely clueless. The cherry on the top however was the bus ride to Shimla where Nandini dozes off on Chandra's shoulder and he lets her sleep looking at her all the while.

Chapter 16- Transmigration

The inmates of the bus got down before the resort. When they entered the reception to announce their arrival .To their dismay ,they did not find their names in the register as it was a wrong resort.The place they need to check in was still far almost near Manali.

Ashwath " Driver Bhaiya.. This is not the resort we booked. The resort is in Vashist gaon "

Driver" The village you are referring is almost near Manali. Manali is around 260 km from Shimla. From here it is still 100 km Bhai"
Ashwath somewhat uncertain regarding this confusion"Shukla sab,did not inform you Bhaiya?"

Driver accusingly" Nahi ...Bhai."

Chandra noticed this commotion and he instructed the driver "Tike we will start after taking dinner in this hotel.What you guys say?" Everybody agreed as they cannot do anything. They have paid the hefty advance for that resort.

The bus left the place and proceeded further in the hilly terrains of Himalaya.They are in the greater Himalayas now. The inmates of bus are thrilled as the journey is going to continue in deep dark night. The driver plays a movie in the dvd player for them. Nandini was scared to death and she was saying Hanuman Chalisa. Chandra observed this and let out a smile.

Nandini urged" I hope we reach the resort soon".

Chandra quizzed "Why... soon?" His eyes sparkled mischief as he spoke as though he wanted to be in the bus besides Nandini for whole life.

Nandini got irritated by this question" Are you mad?look at the valley it is so deep ,if the bus falls into it that's all we have to go to Vaikunda loka(Abode of Lord Vishnu).

Chandra" Nandini,don't worry. You have been sent by Lord to trouble me for the rest of my life. He will not take your soul soon for that matter even my life is safe because of this arrangement".He tried to allay her distress in his own manner.

Nandini" aiyoo,mani ippo 12.pei walking pogume (Time is now 12 a.m and ghost will come out for walking in this hour")

Chandra" Ghost will not harm an another ghost Nandini" he spoke it as though he was serious. A playful punch landed on his arm.All were mumbling and Ashwath was blamed for this extended journey.

Nandini shouted from her seat" dei Aswath ,apart from eating have you done anything correctly?"

Avantika" Ashwath nam bada kam chota".Prapti and Radhika started to yell at Ashwath who was making a sad face.

Saravanan " My wife already called me for 5 times.If I say we are going to Manali,she will kill me accusing that I am hiding the truth".Shaheer too ganged up against Ashwath" Mere abba mar dalenge muje"

Chandra tried to calm them" Hey guys, Ashwath has done me a great favor. Please don't bash him"

Ashwath "Sir, ap hei mera margdarshak. Sun lo Shaheer,mene bola na sirji muje kabhi boora nahi kehenge"

Shaheer " Sir,what is this? Now who can control him now?"

Chandra reassured"Shaheer,let him enjoy once he is married to Helen what he can do ?"

Ashwath was amazed to hear " Sir ji,ap mere dost ya dushman?"

Chandra in a very poised tone" common I know that you always speak only about Helen"

Ashwath could not believe Chandra's words and he cross examined " Nandini Maiyya,kya tumne keh diya sab kuch?"

Nandini pleaded "Mene kuch nahi kaha. I just told that you imagine Helen in wedding attire. I never told about how you love to see her wedding. That red lipstick,I did not even let out a word regarding that"

Ashwath in anger "Nandini,I think you have told everything"

Nandini jokingly" Ashwath ,tum mere dost ho"

Ashwath in dejection"Aaj se tum meri dushman Maiyya"All of them laughed whole heartedly.

@ Same time, a Tribal village near Manali

There was great festival going in the Shiv temple located inside the thick forest of Himalayas. It was occupied by tribal people. These forest dwellers are claiming to be descendants of Bhimsena of Mahabharat. Their leader is Brihatsen. He is worshiping before Lord Shiv and his assistants are blowing conch shell. The holyash and kumkum were strewn by the tribal people. "Har Har Mahadeva... Har Har Mahadeva" these holy chants reverberated in the peaks of Himalayas.The silence of the forest is broken by this chants. At that juncture a bull came before the temple. Brihatsen came out from his trance and fell at feet of LordShiv and took the arthi.He said aloud towards his people
" Let the queen's palace be cleaned and marriage preparation start. The Janapadakalyani, Mythili ,Janak Nandini,Rani Durdhara is going to come along with Chandragupta Maurya soon. We are blessed to see her in our life time".

Tribal people shouted Har Har Mahadeva for 3 times.Their young generation asked Brihatsen to say the story of Durdhara

Brihatsen started to say a tale to his people.

Year 320 BC

Place Kuru kingdom( now Manali)

The palace was built by Chandragupta Maurya for his dear wife Mythili in this region. She was renamed Durdhara after her marriage with Chandragupta Maurya. She was the daughter of his mentor's enemy Dhananand. Mythili was given as a peace treaty after the war by Dhananand. Since Pataliputra was so hot in summer,the royal couple came to Kuru kingdom . Though Hastinapur was the capital city, this region around Manali is very famous for its climate. The Kuru was vassal kingdom of Magadh. So Chandra had his access without any hurdles.
Durdhara loved the place and her liking increased many folds seeing the Shiv temple near their palace. Though Chandra was an atheist he allowed his dear wife to worship Lord Shiv.

Durdhara was pregnant for third time. Previously she delivered a baby boy named Keshnak who died a couple of days after his birth. Next she delivered a baby girl called Charumitra. She is now 1.5 year old. This time she is expected to deliver prince else chandra has to marry another princess .Chanakya was very strict as he does not want Magadh to go without heir.

Durdhara came to Chandragupt who was seated in her chamber after worshiping Shiv.She fell at his feet as a mark of respect.

Chandra" Mythili(Durdhara's maiden name),don't strain yourself"

Durdhara " Today I am very happy. A Bairagi baba blessed that I would deliver a prince this time.I gave him a pearl necklace as a gift,but he said this is useless to both of us Putri" Durdhara continued"I don't understand his words my lord"

Chandra" May be there is nothing to understand Mythili(Durdhara's maiden name"). He holds her hands to his heart " Leave that! Did you invite tribals of this place for the feast?"

Durdhara" They have come to the feast .I have served them with my own hands. Those people are very good at heart and they thank you for saving them from the dacoits".

Chandra" Mythili,I am glad to hear this. It was you who made me fight for them. The tribals worship you .Though you are his daughter you seems to have inherited these traits from your mother. I always respect queen Avantika as she was a good and pious lady".

Durdhara did not reply as she knows the discussion will lead to her father.Whatever certain done,He is her father and she cannot hate him. Chandra loves her but never leaves any opportunity to taunt her father.Chanakya does not like Durdhara very much as she is his enemy's daughter.This fact is well known to all.

Their privacy was interrupted by a dasi who was standing with the lunch plate.

Chandra was about to take the food when Durdhara opened her mouth before him.He smilingly fed the food with his own hands to his queen who was expected to deliver a heir anytime .

Durdhara as soon as she swallowed the morsel of the food, she felt as though her mouth is burning and let out a big cry.Chandra stood up from the seat and held her in his arms.The tribal head who was near the corridor to seek the audience of the king entered the chamber hearing her cries. He gauged the situation and claimed "Maharaj,our queen is poisoned ."

Chandra remembers now only that his Acharya adds the poison in his food to immunize him from attacks . He forgot that matter in his love for Durdhara.He cried seeing her whimpering in deep pain.Her face and hands were looked as though someone burnt them. He did not know the name of the poison so that antidote can be prepared.But tribal head found the name of the poison .

Tribal Head "I know the antidote.I will bring"

Chandra" Hurry up.But what first aid to give ?"

Tribal head" We have time to grind the medicine as it will take 2 muhurtha to take effect. I will come soon"

At that fated time Chanakya entered and ordered " Nobody is going anywhere. We need to save the heir"

Chandra "When antidote is available what prevents us in saving her?"

Chanakya"More than queen I need prince for this rajya." He said in stern voice .

Tribal head"Acharya,please allow me to save her.I know the antidote. She helped us by doing lots of charity and requested Maharaj to save us from dacoits.We are indebted to her. " He implored at the feet of Chanakaya.He pushed the tribal head from his feet." Mind your work Nishada (an epithet for tribal people in sanskrit)"

Chandra" Dont you have any sympathy towards Durdhara? just because she is your enemy's daughter you want her to die?. Will not my daughter be motherless?His started to accuse Chanakya.

Chanakya" Don't be a fool. Magadh is more important than her or your daughter. I want the prince to be saved. If we wait for antidote ,the fetus will die. It cannot survive the poison". Without speaking further Chanakya took his knife and went to bed where Durdhara was whimpering in pain

Chandra cried at top of his voice" I dont want any prince.Please I want my wife"

Chanakya in a calm tone " Durdhara,I am relieving you from your burden. Rest in peace after delivering the heir. I am going to cut your belly"

Durdhara pleaded in that pain " I want to live..please don't kill me...I cannot leave my pati and daughter behind"

Chandra was helpless and he went to Chanakya's feet and cried "Save her.I don't want Magadh .I am ready to offer my throne to anybody of your choice .Atleast for the sake of my daughter allow her to breathe".

Chanakya was very poised in his tone and " You seems to think from your heart.I have killed my own daughter when she tried to make love advances to you when you were my student.Do you remember ?because for me bharat nirman is greater than my daughter.I knew you too loved her.What happened now? Cant you loose Durdhara now?" Chandra was left without any arguments against his mentor.

Chandra was in tears and saw Chanakya opening her belly and Durdhara was suffering from excruciating pain and was about to collapse anytime. Chanakya did not see her suffering and took the fetus from the womb.The baby had a dot of poison in his head. On seeing her son Durdhara smiled even in that worst physical pain.She collapsed uttering " Har Har Mahadev , Shiv please take me into your holy feet"within seconds after her son laid out a shrill.

Durdhara's mortal remains was kept in the pyre and it was burning. Chandra and Chankya left the place.The tribals were mourning for her as they revered her as their Goddess. Since she was a shiv bhakt,her pyre was kept before the Shiv temple. The bells of the temple were ringing in tune with the wind.Suddenly a Bhairagi appeared there from no where.The tribals wailing increased seeing him. The Bhairagi came near the burning pyre.Suddenly her remains stood from the pyre as though it was trying to speak. The tribals were scared to death .Bhairagi calmed them down" The soul cannot rest as it was killed mercilessly by that brahmin. She loved her husband and will not attain moksh until she meets him again. She has to wander until she takes her birth again in this mortal world. That would be her last birth".

Tribalhead" How will that happen?"

Bhairagi " Not now. After 3000 years Durdhara will come here along with her husband.That time you can repay your debts by marrying them in your own tradition. "

Tribalhead"How will we identify her?"

Bhairagi " On the full moon day while your descendants are praying before this Shiv temple which was worshiped by Durdhara.A bull will appear facing the shiv. That will indicate that Durdhara has come near the vicinity of this place. When she comes to this temple you can see the bull again near the gates of the temple and the bamboo flowers will blossom. Durdhara will be wearing a blue dress and holding a water lilly. She will be fair complexioned and will speak a dravidian language.She will be the reason for the separation of Chandragupt and Chanakya.They will also have taken births at that time near Indraprastha. Durdhara would have taken birth once again SitaMarhi ,Mithila desh and her name will be Janak Nandini. Her friends will address her as Nandini!The person who comes with her is Chandragupta Maurya! " The Bhairagi disappeared as the tribals bowed their head in reverence before the Shiv.

Present day 2017 a.d

The tribal head our Janapada Kalyani is going to come . Please pray God that she should come here safely.The conch shell were blown again and the holy ash were applied on Shiv.

The bus in which Nandini and Chandra traveled landed in Manali.The time was 4 a.m. The area was well illuminated by dozens of street lamps . Nandini ventured her head out of window and to her surprise she saw a name board on a shop.

She read out the name "JanakaNandini textile shop".Chandra was clueless and made a confused expression in his face.Nandini explained " I saw the name board called Janak Nandini".

Chandra " So what ?"

Nandini" My birth name is Janaka Nandini. My grandmother used to say that I was born in Sitamarhi in Bihar as father was deputed their for sometime. In the remembrance of the place where Devi Sita took her birth ,my parents coined this name".

But,somehow he did not know that Chandra and Nandini are already in love . For that matter no body knows anything. Chandra and Nandini hardly speak or even smile at each other in Matrix.Chandra was very careful about this.

Guys i know there must be various questions racing in your mind regarding this chapter
Why I have preferred DurDhara and this flash back.I will explain after listening to your comments.
