My dear Ria,

It is so nice to have you back! I hope you had a pleasant holiday in the hills, though it might have been very cold over the New Year.

I am so glad that thanks to my last post, you were inspired to watch the Takshashila track episodes. See how wonderful they were, and what a pity it would have been if you had missed them!

Yes, Nandini is improving rapidly of late, and I am growing to like her a great deal, something that I would never have believed possible! Even last night and tonight, when Chandra comes up to her suddenly and says that he cares for her, the look in her eyes speaks volumes. There is a kind of suppressed shock and even anger, but also a dawning hope that maybe this is true. It was very well done. I think she will continue to improve steadily and will eventually merit comparison with a Saradindu heroine.

Like you, I too enjoyed the joint sword fighting scene, and as I had mentioned in the post, Nandini fights cleanly and well.

And don't worry about the Jodha Akbar comparisons, for I have by now realised that one simply cannot stop them, and I have given up on my earlier attempt to do so!😆

The Roopa track is now going to be launched, and poor Chandra is going to be in a worse mess than ever!😉

Shyamala Aunty

what a timing aunty... I just logged into IF...😛...

Yup the cold was there... but that cold was not problem... the problem was the fog which made our trains run at least 30 hours late... and also for the winter we got clear weathers and it was bliss to watch the snow covered himalaya glowing under the clean blue sky... Do you want to see some pics?.. I have got a lot.. will send you some if you are interested...😳...

Now coming to shweta... well after seeing her tidbit as roopa ad her acting in recent eps i am now mostly convinced that she can actually manage sharadindu heroines if given her a chance... 😆😆...(specially when roopa gave it back to helena and was provoking malayketu)... and finally she learned how to cry gracefully... earlier she used to make pout a lot while crying but now days her crying looks real... her eyes could convey the pain and that too without an annoying pout...😆😆...

well I was not an ardent JA follower so my comparison won't be frequent...might be because I am more inclined to ancient Indian history rather than medieval period, so chandranandini attracts me more ...

trust me I am eagerly waiting for this roopa track... no matter what I am going to like her..I instantly got inti her fanone when she gave it back to helena... that was one of the most powerful scene delivered by far from shweta and she did it quite impressively...😳

My dear Payal,

I hope that by now you have recovered completely from that fever, and are being careful to avoid a possible relapse.

I am very glad that you liked this lo..ong post.

I agree that Chandra 2 is infuriating, but he is not a blubbering fool. He is a very confused young man, who resents two things ferociously: one that he has fallen in love with Nandini despite himself, and two that she, as he firmly and unreasonably believes by now, still loves Malayaketu (and not him, Chandragupta). I do not mind his feeling like this, nor even the sneering, bullying way in which he then behaves with Nandini. That is the male ego all over!

What I will not accept., and condemn unreservedly, is his utterly irresponsible act of banishing Nandini from the palace without any recourse, that too at night, when he knows full well that she has nowhere to go as she had no maayka. What if she had been kidnapped by bandits and sold as a slave? Who then would be responsible for that horrible fate befalling her? That she escaped a similar fate at Malayketu's hands was pure luck.

I simply could not stand it when I watched Chandra 2 standing in that balcony and arguing with himself that he had been right in asking her to leave. For two pins, I would have kicked him all the way from Pataliputra to Takshashila, preferably with the hobnailed boots that I had reserved for Jalal when he used to exasperate me beyond the limit!😉

Anyhow, we are now moving into the Roopa track, and poor Chandra will be in a worse mess than ever. I am sure Sunanda will have Nandini kidnapped somehow, for she and Aapama could hardly run the risk of her running into Roopa by accident!

By the way, one of my favourite characters in Indian history is Raja Raja Chozha. But then the south Indian rulers, no matter how great they were, are usually overlooked in our pan Indian narratives. Another great but neglected ruler was Skandagupta of the Gupta dynasty, who protected the subcontinent from the invading Huns. All the focus is generally on the two great Mauryan emperors -Chandragupta and Ashoka - and on Akbar. For perfectly valid reasons, I agree, but that is no reason for blanking out all the others who were also great in their own ways.

Thanks for the PM and the lovely analysis Aunty which by the way is much more interesting than the episodes being dished out. Chandragupta was always my favourite character in Indian history but they have reduced to him a blubbering fool.

Amina, it takes wisdom to recognise good advice, to understand that it is relevant, and to take it. You are clearly in this category. You are very lucky in this respect.

No, no, Amina my dear, he was perfectly serious about the talaq from Ruqaiya in the Tasneem track. I hung in there till the very end, convinced that he had a Plan B to salvage the situation thru some clever twist, as in the case of the Ratanpur Qila, but he had nothing. It was a huge letdown for me, and so many others.

Jalal was made to look like a fool, all for lack of a non-retroactive clause in the new law, something that is standard practice, for it is against natural justice to make any new law retroactive. And all this to make out that Jodha Begum was oh so clever!😡

Shyamala Aunty

yes Aunty he was serious in tasneem track as i said it pained him more i was talikng about ateefa track he was just threatening both his begums yes jodha was ever clever😡 she had a knack of creating a problem and taking full credit of solving them so her faults where cleverly concealed😭 and than taking full credit and praise

Well, I'm daring to put forth a theory only because I've seen a vaguely similar tale unfold in front of my admittedly amused self😉😆. Based on your posts and descriptions of the characters, I think Chandra's actions are less of an attempt to instigate jealousy and more of an attempt to save face and protect his self-respect. This is how I've seen it unfold - You like someone romantically. It is the first time you're nurturing these feelings, and that already makes you ultra sensitive and ultra vulnerable. But the other person does not reciprocate. That is tough enough. But then they add insult to injury by liking someone else, and seemingly going to great lengths to rub your nose in it. It feels like a direct assault on your self esteem. They're essentially telling you - you're not worthy, someone else is. So you hit back by proving time and again that you're just as or more worthy, and there are people who know it. Perhaps that is how Chandra's mann is functioning right now🤔.

Now you take good care of yourself🤗. And I hope the musk deer discovers the source of the fragrance, and settles down for a long, blissful rest :)

I like this theory and I do think its very plausible. Having feelings for someone only to find out they are in love with another (in this case your own brother in law) would leave anyone feeling like a fool. And most often that turns into unreasonable anger at the very person whom you love.
The anger is not at them, but at yourself for loving them and making a fool of yourself.

Chandra could really be experiencing all this.

But yet, there is no reason for him to be stupid, no?

Hope he wakes up from this mirage and soon too 😒
