I second your thoughts. I felt the same after watching it.

They get all the honours and authorities and there is a price for everything. Certainly they are not infallible. But to stay at the top they have to overcome their fallacies that may be detrimental to the State or the Society. Else they give up their crown and follow their hearts. I'm not saying that one is right and the other wrong. It is one's individual choice and decision. But mostly, unless they were very lucky, they cannot have both.😕

Yay! But in this case Chandra happens to be one of the lucky few. He isn't besotted with a dancing girl or Vishkanya. Nandu is his own wife. Can't he just fall in love with her? Why should everyone start making a fuss about it or start feeling insecure? When you start staying together, you start automatically growing into love and getting attached with your partner or consort. It happens so automatically and naturally. That's what happened to Chandroo and Nandu.

If I were in Chanakya's place, I would have been livid with anger that Chandra allowed Nand to escape. Chandra was aware of Nand and his men looking out for him on his return from the ashram. But Chandra did nothing about it. Chanakya is being very lenient. Chandra shouldn't be making a public spectacle of the mess in his personal life. When we go for work, we leave our personal problem at home. It doesn't behove an Emperor to be distracted by his personal woes when the Sabha is in progress.

I too agree with this point of yours. Chandra when he knew about Nand's whereabouts from unconscious Nandini could have sent for his army and captured them. Similarly in the scene you mentioned, Chandra appears pretty lost. But spanking by Chanakya came before this scene. But then we could always think differently on the same scene or issue.

I too initially thought bad about chanakya that he is giving direction on this as well.

Read Munni's posts and Agree with Sandhya.

Chankya cannot afford to trust Nand's daughter so soon. Chandra may have known her intimately through Gurukul days and there is attraction but for Chanakya , a roaming Nand is a danger. Nandini is his neutralizer. He could see that Chandra is losing control of himself, having observed him from childhood. So he admonishes.

Secondly, Chandra did not forgive Avantika just like that. He wanted to say that one dialogue to Nandini and drove a message. It is too costly an error. He has been taken for a ride by his lack of emotional control. Raja Dharma Principles have been floundered in assessing the situation. Chanakya's anger is more than justified.

Sandhya - Excellent Argument

Shailja - Very good post.

Nur JaHan also happened to be Salim's wife. If Chandra's love for his wife did not influence his kingly decisions neither Chanakya nor i would have minded. He forgave the misuse of Rajmudra as he wanted to make a point to Nandini. He let go an opportunity to capture Nand just to test Nandini's loyalties. Now this is worrisome.

Agree chanakya and Helena both need to tone down a bit,
both need to show some class

I fully agree Chankya is looking like a greedy PM rather than guru out to snatch chandras rights as emperor

After all Chandra won a war on his own

Why not? Chanakya had done as much if not more than what Akbar had done for Salim. And kings/Princes cannot afford to 'manage to fall in love' when their falling in love is not beneficial to the State or they end up a Salim to Nur JaHan. This is one of the curses of the Crown. Chanakya's anxiety is not unfounded. I am perfectly okay with it.😊

Salims love affair was opposes as Nur Jahan was not royal and equal in class

But her Chankya himself married Chandra to Nnadini

Second what Chankya did was much more - he made a common orphan boy into an emperor

Salim was already born prince and hence became emperor

So Chankya did much more for Chandra than a father like Akbar did for Salim

But that does not mean you start treating your protege like a slave to your whims

See Akbar was an emperor and he wanted hi son to marry only royals - understandable every father would think like that only

But her Chankya married Chandra to nandini himself

No - He did not. Chanakya mobilized resources, gave him ways, course corrected him, provided vital intelligence. Chandra led from front - He got bravery and valour. Chanakya got brains. Wars are won on both strategy and action. CK is Strategy and resources mobilization and Chandra is ACTION.
