Oh thank you... sorry, I've seen you reply in Shyamala aunty's post... but didn't catch your name.. 😳

What is it with the special effects! He's Future Samrat Chandragupta Maurya not the hybrid of Krish and the Flying Jatt. 🤪 When he climbed the tree I thought I'd get to see some awesome leap where he lands on a soldier's body and battles with the others. But yeh toh 😕
I thought he was going to jump on the horse and then ride off... 😆 was wondering why he couldn't just climb it... but bandaa had other plans!

When Nandini jumped like the Flying Frog I really felt like banging my head.

Well, at least they both belong to the same species of gravity defying aliens. 😳
I can take some discrepancies but I the crazy special effects are too much.

Same here...
Again, A Lovely Post!!!
Thanks a ton 😃

Hello Author dearest!

Now that was quite some musing, random errotic or whatever, be it from the point of observations or the sense of humour, that's so typical of you, it was as can be put with a Shymalian flair - sans pareil!! I know you know, but still - you are a ⭐️

My comments -

3) Nasty Naapit

The barber... oh Lord... when he fell off, while acting like a peeping Tom, I feared he was going to do a Saawariya's Ranbir on us...the state of his hand-towel, at most times, as precarious as the condition of Bharatmata's safety!

You were concerned about that only?! Why I was very much in the mood for searching the state of art gymnasium, that the Magadha empire provided to all inclusive of barbers 😉

5) Stumped subjects

With the dialogue delivery of both kings sub-par, I could see why the subjects seemed quite clueless as they were subjected to endless lectures of unity by the two kings! Strangely enough, they had mostly the same expressions when they learnt of their king's demise😆... I'm certain that is because they feared the imminent arrival of another lecture... and lo and behold, that's exactly what happened when Padmanand prakat hua!

Actually, the director did not waste time assembling the prajas again and again... he must have shot their faces only once! Hence the same expression 😉

6) Tyranny triumphs

The scene where Suryagupt watches the amorous lovers, and everything after that, has to be the most ill-conceived scene in a historical - the disappearing/appearing guards, the peacock delivery ward... nope... if I go on, I'd run out of laptop ink! (Of course, my worries for the Naapit's handtowel were still on, and with even greater depths during the fight sequences!)

So thoughtful of you! 😆😆

7) Hurrah! Handtowel grew in Height (and width)!

😆😆😆

And I like his tri-striped semi-bleached beard too... stylish villain😉. (He looks better than Chetan Hansraj! I just realised we have three giants in this show... This dude, Chetan and the oldest Nand son...😲)

A fact... I realised this after reading your point - the villains or giants, as you say, make RT appear shorter than he actually is. Whereas the heroine makes him appear taller than he is 😉

I particularly like one thing he does (his habit) keeping count of any ill-treatment meted out to him, all sprouting from his father's cruelties. I definitely admired him for taking his father head-on.

👏👏agree!

9) Amusing Amartya

Amartya Rakshas sporting a hairstyle like the famous comic-boxer T'? And oh my God... we have a Gollum too! Nevertheless Amartya's 'hatke' character is a welcome relief. But, if Amartya Rakshas has a significant role, I must say he's not a good choice - there is hardly ever any expression on his face and most times I know he's saying his lines is because his lips seem to be moving.🤓

True... but I think Shymala Aunty's Star Trekkie comparison is more suitable 😆

11) BGM - I Love the background score they're using for CGM... stolen from BB or not, I love it.❤️ It's royal and it reflects bravado. The westernised la la la' for Nandini doesn't suit the serial... it really takes away from the gravity of the scene. On one hand we have a lady being stoned, and then suddenly la la la... really?🤔

Another great observation... that and the unnecessary use of CGI, what takes them to understand that the combat scenes can come along well even without special effects 😕... Why are they so hell bent on disobeying Newton's discovery!

12) Chatur Chanakya

I am quite impressed by Chanakya - glad I didn't watch his earlier serial. Glad I haven't watched the other more 'impressive' Chanakyas. Hence, I have no complaints. He reminds me of the Amar Chitra Katha portrayals of the savant that I've grown up seeing. (Btw, I don't know if anyone noticed - one of Chanakya's disciples - he looks very very smart. Ahem... he should get a bigger role!😉)

He is good, and as he grows in to the character he'll be better I hope! 😳

13) On to the infamous boar scene - The actual boar wasn't as bad as the dude jumping on the invisible trampoline and landing with his leg gently on top like the boar was Ahalya and he Lord Ram! Hey Ram!😳

Jai ShreeRam!!!!😉

Lovely musings! A delight for the reader...

Each day I try to watch this with a "neutral mind' and not be nit picky but seem to have more misgivings at the end.

I find the princess a tad more childish than one needs to be. The "Bhabhi" seems to lack class. The narration is mediocre. The sets are like the ones in Animation movies.

Coming to positives... Me too likes Chanakya very very much. The pick cannot be any better. Exudes the write amount of respect.
Rajat is good, but preferred him as Jalal or will take sometime to see him. I like his voice!
The music is quite good and see myself humming already!

Dearest Lashykanna,

Aha! I knew you would get here sooner or later; the analysing bug is a tenacious one and hard to shake off.

I enjoyed this, but nowhere near as much as I love your Akbar-Heera chapters. Lashykanna, this sort of determined comic approach is not for you. I remember your daily posts, or at least very frequent ones, on Jodha Akbar. Compared to those, this one, while very entertaining in itself, looks like a salad. Not like the rich shahi paneer you used to serve us!

This is because when you do an episode by episode analysis, you can go into depth and describe the good parts in detail Here, the overwhelming urge is to wisecrack, and as a result, you end up losing out on most of what makes your writing special.

I know that you do not have the time for daily episode analyses in the old style, and in fact I am fast unable to cope with the demands they make on me as well. So my own advice, for whatever it is worth, would be for you to "do" only the special episodes which cry out for it. Then you will be able to spread yourself, and we can also compare notes, you and I, and argue over our respective interpretations of one thing or another, the way we used to in the good old days. Remember our diametrically opposite takes on Jalal's speech to the awaam as compared to his scene at the mazhar as he prays for Jodha's life to be saved?

As for your Caesar's salad, I have reservations only about one point. Actually two. One, you have written far more about Nand and even the young Chandragupta than about Rajat's version, which stems directly from the problem cited above. Two, to my mind, this Nandini is neither a great looker nor does she seem, till now, like any kind of performer, let alone the very good one you call her. If I have to watch any more scenes of daddy dearest and his atipriya putri, I shall develop one ailment I have been spared thus far - diabetes!😉. Shweta is an acclaimed actress, and she should be able to do very well, but she first has to get out of this sachcharine territory.

Oh yes, a third : there is no chemistry as yet between our leads, and if you see it, it is an illusion. He looks at her as if she was a wild cat that has to be watched out for, and she looks silly, with that tic of compressing her lower lip.

OK, Lashykanna, I have been candid with a vengeance, which is something I normally never do when commenting on the efforts of others. But I care a lot about your writing, whence this frank assessment. I know you will take it in the spirit in which it is offered.

Affectionately,

Shyamala Periyamma
