The Queen
.Prologue.
Someshawar, the leader of fisherman tribe got worried as he observed the devastating storm outside and the fight of his weak and fragile cottage against it. It was continuously raining outside for whole day and as the night getting darker; the storm was revealing its destroying side more and more. Someshawara got worried more and more as the flashes of thunder kept on flashing through his room again and again. He wondered that the quite soar of Mahanadi area where there village was situated from their ancestor's time had ever experienced such kind of devastating storm in decades.
Someshawar's wife Leela slowly entered inside the room and kept her hand over his husband's shoulder worriedly. He jerked up in her sudden touch and looked towards her with a bit confused eyes. As she found her beloved spouse at her side, he smiled a bit to decrease her worry.
"Leela, I guess I won't be able to go for fishing tomorrow also. Just look at the weather outside. It seemed impossible. I guess the wind won't get slow down soon." Someshawar said with bit worried voice.
"I am not worried about that my lord." Leela sat cozily keeping her head over Someshawr's shoulder. "I was worried about other things... When there wouldn't be any shade upon our head, how would we be able to even survive and lead a life."
Someshwar sighed sadly. Leela's worry was not meaningless that he knew really well. Both Husband and wife looked worriedly towards the shaky shade upon their head which was made only with straw, dried leaves and supported by some weak bamboos who were trying hard to stand themselves against the continuous powerful stroke of devastating wind.
"Ohh Lord Mahadeva!!..." Leela whispered with dried voice, "Have mercy on us!!... Don't take away the shade from our head. Spare our lives!!"
Suddenly the huge sound in the door of cottage shocked them all. Both of them got amused that who could visit them in such weather.
"Someshawar!!,... Leela Bhabi, please open the door... I am Sudhama!!" The urging voice screamed from the outside of door.
"Sudhama!!!!..." Someshwar rushed in utter shock and quickly opened the door. He saw his old friend Sudhama and his wife standing outside totally drenched in rain and both of them looked devastated.
"Sudhama!!.. what are you doing here now?!!..." Someshwar couldn't develop the shock. Sudhama and he used to be friends from childhood days. They last met 5 years ago when they left Chilika soar area and moved towards Mahanadi soar. Sudhama stayed back there with his family because his father was too old at the time and was unable to bear the long journey.
Sudhama came inside with a jerk taking long her wife who was mostly unconscious by the time. "Friend I will explain you everything later.. But at first, take care of Revati.. She is expecting and I think its time..." Sudhama said worriedly looking towards her unconscious wife.
"What?!!" Someshwar looked towards Revati with wide eyes. Meanwhile Leela had reached to his side and it didn't take a single moment for her to understand about Revati's current status.
"Ohh lord!!... Sudhama Bhiaya quickly take her inside and try to get her conscious back... I am calling maa for help!!" Leela rushed inside. Sudhama and Someswar hurriedly moved revati's unconscious body inside who had gained a bit consciousness by the time and moaning due to labor pain. Someshwar quickly scattered some straw heap on floor and Sudhama placed Revti on them. Revati was crying severely in pain by the time.
"Hold on Revati, everything will be fine!!" Sudhama said worriedly holding the cold, wet hand of her wife. Meanwhile leela entered inside the room with her old mother in law and daughter who had just approached her middle teenage. The old lady quickly got busy on checking Revati and ordered her granddaughter to bring hot water and other necessary things. Leela indicated them to move outside and Someshwar quickly moved outside taking worried Sudhama long with him. His mother had been expert in such things as she had worked as Dai before.
"Don't worry!!.. your wife will be fine!!... Now just change your clothes first... now change quickly otherwise you will be catching fever soon." Someshwar quickly gave some fresh clothes to Sudhama and pushed him inside for freshen up and change. Standing lonely on the room he suddenly noticed a very surprising thing that the storm and wind has suddenly slowed down and there was only heavy rain around. He was a bit amused by the sudden change of weather. He saw her daughter rushing in and out of the room and smiled mildly. He just wondered if the arrival of newbie had suddenly changed their fate from getting destroyed by the devastating storm.
While ladies were busy in their work, Someshwra tried to cheer up worried Sudhama with his talks. He came to know so many surprising things from him. His father had passed away two years ago. Sudhamas son Shibba had joined the army of Kalinga king as last year as he reached 15. Sudhama never agreed to his decision. He wanted him to lead the life of fisherman like him but his young blood was boiling with courage and valor. He knew really well that valor and courage was in their blood lines because they were the decedents of the ancient royal families who ruled over the soar area of Kalinga but the days were of past glories and they belonged to fisherman tribe by the time. However, Shibba didn't listen to them and went to raajdhani and got selected in king's army. Then so many years passed and sibba didn't returned but he kept on sending his earning to them and they were quite amused seeing the large number of Gold and Silver coin he used to send. The messenger informed them that Shibba was working in a very confidential high post in king's army but never revealed that what was the post actually. Suddenly some months ago there was huge loot in Kalinga king's treasury and all were shocked. It was so difficult to move inside the palace breaking the tough security and avoiding the sharp eyes of soldiers who were keeping eyes on treasury for 24 hours. The royal people were amused to know the fact that they had used the secret way to the palace which only few people know about. King and his men came to know by secret massage that the loot of treasury was planned from the inert of Mauryan king's palace in Patliputra. On the very next day, King's army attacked on Sudhama's house and took away their every belonging also causing them to leave the village. The soldier's informed that Shibba was working as the spy for Kalinga king and he was sent to Patliputra for some confidential work. But he was caught by king's men and currently he was imprisoned in Patliputra's jail and King had doubted that Shibba had revealed the secret way of Kalinga treasury to Magadh King. From the past five days Sudhama was wondering everywhere with his pregnant wife to get a shade upon their head and finally on the stormy night they were able to reach there.
Sudhama and Someshwar sat silently on the lonely room after Sudhama finished his story. After a long pause Sudhama asked that if they had any further news about Shibba. Sudhama informed that they had lost all hopes to get back his son. He was in imprisonment of Mauryan's jails. Even god couldn't save him from there. The silent grasped the room again. At the very moment Someswar's daughter Laxmi came there rushing with chirpy smile informing that her Revati kaki has given birth to a daughter and they both were well. Sudhama's darkened face lit up with the news as she rushed towards the room followed by Someswar.
As soon as Sudhama saw his little daughter's face, his all sadness left him and he got the touch of happiness after long. As he hugged her little light of hope in the darkness dearly to his chest, everyone present on the room smiled dearly. Someswar looked smiling towards the window. The rain had stopped and the moonlight was breaking through the gap of clouds. The heavenly smell of wet soil was spreading everywhere. Everything seemed so beautiful all of a sudden, even the tiny drop of rain water clinging to the straw heap of window and glistening in moonlight.
"Sudhama... Your daughter will be Queen!!..." Sudhama and all the others get amused as the old fortune teller of the village made statement looking towards the little baby daughter of sudhama who was grining with her toothless mouth and playing with the long white beard of old guy.
"Perdon me sire!! But we didn't understand what did u say..." Someswar asked.
"Sudhama your daughter is born to be queen... Nd not just any random queen... She had taken birth with a motive... She was destined to make her own place in history... to engrave her name on the stone of time with her valor, courage and kindness!!... She will be the queen of people... she will conquer the king's heart who is destined to conquer the whole Jambudwip." The old man said again with smile. But Sudhama and Revati's eyes caught the tremendous fear as they heard the prediction about their daughter.
"No it can't be..." Revati said with fearful voice, "We don't want our daughter to have any connection with royal people and royalty.. She will be the fisher woman... just like her father... I don't want to lose my daughter like my Sibba!!" her fearful words came like the urgent pray to god to change her daughter's destiny.
The old fortune teller smiled, "Putri!!.. We can't change the destiny of human.. Especially when it's written by the almighty long ago... You can just try...I say... but looking at the indication I must say that I don't know how much your effort wil be fruitfull.." he said. The all people who were present there went into total silent mode.
"Have you given any name to her?!" the old man asked.
"Not yet sire... We will be very pleased if u suggest something!!" Someswar said from side. The old man looked towards baby's smiling face. She had slightly dark skin but the radiant aura emerging from her was truly amusing. At the very first glance his experienced eyes told that she couldn't be any normal child.
"KARUVAKI!!!" The old man said with answering smile looking towards the baby's luminous eyes.
Precap:
"Devaki I just asked u something where the hell is your karuvaki didi?!" Revti screamed looking towards the little girl who was almost shaking looking at her kaki's face somehow been able to answer.
"Karuvaki didi had gone to Akhada to fight with the boys!!!" Devki answered.
"WHAT?!!!" Revati felt that her head would be spinning at any moment.
