This is my honest opinion.
First of all, before analysing the CAS AshVaki, let's have a look at the historical AshVaki.I love and adore the historical AshVaki.
Historically Ashok was a cold, ruthless and merciless king whose heart melted after he saw the horrors of the aftermath of the Kalinga War.The same war which he had waged for his own ambitions.
Historically Karuvaki was a brave and beautiful fisherwoman. Not a princess but a commoner. But her persona was so incredible that Ashok himself fell in love with her.
AshVaki loved each other, yes. But they were not lovesick.Ashok's love for Karuvaki did not come in between his ambition to annex Kalinga. And Karuvaki's love for Ashok did not stop her from fighting against him for her motherland.
And the most interesting part is how they rebuilt their relationship post the Kalinga War.
About who was his favourite wife and whom he loved the most, then I believe that he loved all three Devi,Karuvaki and Asandhimitra in different ways. All of them had influenced his life in some way or other.
Now coming back to our topic,AshVaki had feelings for each other no doubt. But they had other priorities too.It was not like they lived, breathed, ate, slept thinking about each other
In CAS,they had to introduce one of his future wives as his love interest undoubtedly. So,they opted for Karuvaki. That's not a problem. The problem lies with the characterization and the execution of the story.
And neither am I happy with the characterization of AshVaki post leap nor with the execution.
It's natural that they have feelings for each other post leap. But it would have been better if these feelings would have resurfaced when they met again.
Before they meet each other,it could have been shown how Ashok is dealing with himself and his ambition, thirst for power, bloodlust, etc. And Karuvaki could have been shown as a matured and powerful lady managing Kalinga, looking after the welfare of her subjects, dealing with Jaggu etc.
Then they would have met each other probably when Ashok visits Kalinga and that could have rekindled their relationship. That would have made it more realistic and the audience would have appreciated it too.
Instead AshVaki are shown as star crossed lovers separated by the cruel world who long to be reunited with each other.Doesn't that make it cliched? Why are they trying to project AshVaki as eternal lovers?AshVaki were a real couple and not a fairy tale couple.
As far as the actors are concerned, then the problem does not lie with Saumya. The problem lies with the characterization.I know that she has to improve in some areas but Saumya is doing as she is instructed to do.How will she showcase her acting skills when her character is written in this manner?? They have made Karuvaki's character so unidimensional. All she has to do is chant Ashok's name.If they would have explored the various aspects of Karuvaki's character then I am sure that people would have grown to accept and like her.
We all are not even bashing the actress but her fans have gone crazy on this forum. Have y'all seen the alternate thread?😆
The characterization of Kaurvaki has been poorly done by CVs (or DVs as we are calling them). They have reduced one of the most prominent king of Ancient India to a love sick romeo and it's making me mad!😡 Young Ashoka was more chand than this one. I am pretty sure CVs have decided that they won't follow history and will make their own crappy one.😡😡

Well ...I am new to the forum but not to the show. Watching the show since its inception. Loved the younger cast alot . They were brilliant. Now coming to the adults . I mean the new cast after leap. Watched the initial episodes post leap...But as a neutral viewer I am not at all impressed with the characters... actors and the most important ... The story. Seems younger Ashok-Kaurwaki were more matured than the present one 😆...
Must say after seeing this Ashoka..Chanakya would have committed suicide if he was alive. He must be thankful to Rajmata and team for killing him 😆
If the real Samrat Ashoka was alive ...he would have reopened/reconstructed Ashoka's hell 😉😆
Well I am following the advice by some forum member ...Dont like it... Then change the channel 😆...
