As far as I know the history says that rani Devi tried to change Ashoka to a mild temper man but was unsuccessful. Hence she left and went to her parental home and live in a Buddhist monastery for the rest of her life.

However Ashoka got changed after the war of Kaling. Hence it is very much possible that it was kaurvaki who changed him. She is the only queen who is mentioned in the books as far as I know

It is possible that after changing Ashoka went to get Devi back and was unsuccessful but still was impressed with the Buddhist ideals and teachings. So much that he decided to convert to Buddhism.
