Oh no! But quite possible. Bulls eye actually.
Just sticking to history itself has a lot of meat and could get good TRPs. But somehow DVs are stuck on soap versions and distort even a good candidate story to the std soap.

I have watched few eps only .It did just black or white of all characters . Whereas old one was paced ,all characters were shady :D And dialogues were brilliant .That was hell of screenplay writing ,if we ignore the technological flaws.

Nothing seems to be changing on Indian TV sadly not to mention they target just one type of audience .But CVS got this show they have most pathetic and idiotic writers and grp of creative head .If they stop making all shows like 'days of our lives' and start believing on principle 'all good things must come to an end' the standard might improve .IMO a lot ways are there to evolve taste of the masses they are targetting.

BRC's version of MB is my all time favorite. Dialogues were classic. Draupadi had her majestic charm nut was well behaved as well! Arjun was given in the right dosage and everyone had an equal role to play. As you said grey were shown grey - no white washing or painting black.

Star MB had the soap material - only the hero and heroine had brains other are pure dud. The way Yudhistira, Bhim were portrayed as duds was baffling. It was like only Arjun and Draupadi had brains. Yudhistira is much more intelligent than how he was depicted. And Draupadi more toned down than depicted. Even Krishna was not spared.

I even like the Sagar Ramayan version. I could watch these many times unlike the shows today. I even like the DD Chanakya version. That was brilliant.

Yes, for the same masses better maal and rendition could be there.

Btw, did I hear that Ashok emerged outbid the Kedchak statue?
Didn't I see that in CGM where Chandragupt did the same to kill Dhananand?
