In Mauryan Times being a Rajmata was not only a title but was also a post and she had a specific amount of salary reserved from treasury i.e 48000 panas, same was reserved for agramahishi or chief queen, she was appointed by samrat and was never always first queen. So When Asokavardhan appointed Asandhi as chief of his harem, surely she had huge place in his heart and in the court. Other queen could be powerful too but they could not surpass chief one. So no doubt we can infer from this fact that indeed asandhi was his favorite. But cvs will show unnecessary love story between kaurwaki and asoka. ooof...m tired of karu. wasn't that movie enough to disgrace both the emperor and his edict queen?

Did I read like Asandi came in as Devi could not be a queen given her humble background?
