I was so disappointed that I didnt feel like venting it out yesterday. Frankly speaking I was quite prepared for the continuation of the disappointment after the previous day's episode.
Today's Highlight
1. Bindusar (Cast- not the role). I havenot seen him before, I read quite a bit in this forum talking very high of him, though almost everyone made fun of him also for his dumbness (which is not his problem as it was cvs mistake to project him like that. I am not talking about the way he was characterised. That is a different issue altogether.
Seriously, I really wonder if he really has any acting skills. How was Sameer selected for Bindusar's role. Did the cvs followed the casting process during his audition. How did he cleared the audition tests. No doubt he comes out well in sentimental scenes, but that is not the end of King's role. He must be an all rounder. Sadly I feel that his acting skills are so poor that he is only fit for a role equivalent to some of the minsters sitting in the court or Kalatak. I noticed this drawback in him during that accident in Justin's marriage. Remember, all the funny acts he made during those episodes. He didnt show any signs of a king in those episodes. Made mockery of his role. Man, this man doesnot know the meaning of expressions. Looks like he doesnot have any acting skills. Everytime he gets angry, this man converts it into a comedy scene. Sameer tho comedy piece nikala yaar. Saare janta mazak udarahi hai fir bhi, looks like he didnt seem to have taken any steps to improve his acting skills. Such an important role, such an important occasion - HE SCREWED UP the entire scene completely. I think he is unfit for such lead roles.
Look at Siddharth. I read that he took so much pain to undergo various trainings in every aspects so that he could do justice to his role. I can never forget that horse riding scene after him watching Magadh from the hilltop in that super saturday episode. He looked so majestic. This man didnt seem to have taken any training needed for the role. No preparation either. My Vote: Most dissapointing cast in CAS.
While so many worried about the cast for senior ashoka role and vented their ire, why is that nobody cared about this hopeless man for this role. Why didnt they resist him like they do with GG. What did they saw in him (Sameer) which I dont see in him (NO VIP)
Seriously even SAM ANDERSON would have done a better job !
2. Fight sequence. I dont want to talk about Meer as I mentioned about it already in my previous days post. Looks like CVs dont have any idea about this serial itself - in terms of what the story all about. C'mon man. this is historial story of one of the most important dynasties in India. I am sure if you go and interview the cvs about the show, they will not be able to talk in detail about this story.
Man, this is a fight between the King and his General of one of the greatest empire. You should know how well they will be trained. Sword fighting is the most important skill they develop and their most favourite pass time too. When they fight they will fight it out with their heart and with full vigour. Every time they fight their focus would be only to win over the other person. They would be fighting ferociously. Since they are trained so well, such fights could last for hours even. CVs you should watch the sword fights in the old movies. You should watch MGR/Nambiar sword fight sequences. I am sure such great sequences are there in Hindi movies too. Since you mastered the skill of picking scenes/stories/entire sequences from Imagine's CGM, you could have atleast done the same thing here also by refering some Old classics. Infact, in such case nobody would have figured out from where you picked such sequence. Instead you would have got so much appreciation from the viewers. Scene main nikala kya hai. Sameer shows some painful (yes PAINFUL cos hisko kaheen buri thara se durd hora tha) face with a dialog and throws the sword on Mir and he escapes. Repeat for four/five times. What a joke man. I could not recollect atleast one fight sequnce in this episode which was done in single shot running for atleast 30 seconds even. Evert shot was less than 10-15 secs. Even Ashok/Mir had longer sequence (close to 20secs in single shot. CVS you guys are pathetic man. No one can help you and the serial now. The TRPs are bound to cross 50 soon. Hope, the producers notices these shortcomings in the show and take quick action and improve the show. Ofcourse there is no question of bringing back the glory as it was never glorious from the beginning.
I wish DD took the initiative to produce CAS in the first place. I am sure they would have done it brilliantly. Colors/Contiloe - it is not your cup of tea. You are bound to fail as your focus is only TRP and revenue. To achieve this you guys screw up the real history by adding masala.
I am sure DD can still take it up (Remember the epics - Mahabharatha and Ramanayan telecast in DD). I may not watch DD regularly, but when it comes to epic/historicals I know that they are the masters in this field and they will do a great job.
3. Background in place of set. Man, I still dont understand why they preferred to go with the blue matt technique instead of shooting the sequence in a set for an all important episode (the room Mir meets dharma). There was no depth in the image. Perspectives of the props were not maintained properly. What did you guys wanted to show differently in this scene. Even if they wanted to show a different room from rest of the rooms shown already, they could have used the room where Dharma resides. They could have moved the props to create an effect that it is a different room and shot there. Why did they decide to create that ugliest background and superimpose the sequence on it. No proper lighting/ flashy lightings, no shadows. Lighting on the characters did not gel with the lighting on the background. In some places it looked like the cast were standing on the background image and playing. Guys, your appraisals are screwed up. No increment for next fin year.
Seriously guys, you have guts to do this and screw up the show.
4. Lastly, Mr Chanakya. - Oh boy. For this simple plot, you created so much hype (Even Dhrupad would have created a better plot if you ask him to create a hide and seek play with his favourite ladoos). And your explanations were not impressive - average instead.
5. Niharika's death. I didnot expect this so soon for her. Wasted talent. I was impressed with her aggressive behaviour in her first two episodes. Thereafter the cvs decided to under utilize for reasons known to them only. I was hoping that soon they will give some importance to her role and do justice for her talent. (BTW, how did she knew the secret path).
What I liked about yesterday's episode: As mentioned in one of my previous episodes, Mir was not killed. I was expecting Ashok to let him run after he surrenders and give constant chase to him everytime he attempts to enter pataliputra. I was expecting him to go through the same pain Dharma/Ashok went through for some years. Let's hope that's what is going to happen, though Bindu may send him to jail.
Actually, it doesnot really matter whether he is alive or killed as he has never contributed to the show - neither to the army, magadh, bindusar, helu or for that matter to even Noor. I always considered him as brain dead person. Actually he is an harmless creature with threatening look moving around in Magadh with the Designation Senapathi.
Precap for Monday's episode: Will be celerated as Expressions day. Instead of ABCD it will be the evil characters which are going to take the centre stage except for few minutes. Though the cvs screwed up the most important track, I am sure they will do a decent job on Monday's episode as the ground work for the plots for the next chapter will start tomorrow. Since Helu darling will play the lead role whether in unison with others are not, lot of fireworks is expected on Monday and the following days. I said it would be decent job on monday by cvs as it was their forte all the while.
