Ganga,is older sister to Parvati,and is the Scared River Goddess Ganga.She is born to Himavan,but later on resides in Swarga on Lord Bramhas request.She has a strong attraction towards Mahadev who rebukes her,hence making her bitter towards him.Later on she desends on earth,with the intention of washing everything away,but Mahadev contains her in his Jaata-hence getting the name of Gangadhara.
Mahadevi Mahamaya In Buddha
Queen My of Sakya (Mydev) was the birth mother of Gautama Buddha, the sage on whose teachings Buddhism was founded, and the sister of Mahpajpat Gotam, the first Buddhist nun ordained by the Buddha.[1][2]
My means "illusion" or "enchantment" in Sanskrit and Pli. My is also called Mahmy ("Great My") and Mydev ("Queen", literally deva (goddess) My). In Tibetan she is called Gyutrulma and in Japanese is known as Maya-fujin (').
In Buddhist tradition Maya died soon after the birth of Buddha, generally said to be seven days afterwards, and came to life again in a Buddhist heaven, a pattern that is said to be followed in the births of all Buddhas.[1] Thus Maya did not raise her son who was instead raised by his maternal aunt Mahapajapati Gotami.[1] Maya would, however, on occasion descend from Heaven to give advice to her son.[1]
