What is the lowest count? Keep me in that category... to be on the safer side smiley36

I got 1 urmm... maybe a stupid question. I was picking books for the challenge and I saw Goodreads have page number of the novel. Would it be acceptable for me to track my daily progress by updating the chapter number, while using the total page count as a measure of my overall progress once I complete the book?

Do you mean add your daily progress in your post when you're logging the pages? Sure you can if you want to, but it's not a requirement. We only need you to log pages once you're finished with the book. But if it helps you keep track of how many pages you read in a day, you can edit your post every day to log in the pages

Lizzie, I've a few questions.

1) Can I select a book which is less than 200 pages long? I'm asking this question because it's written that one needs to read minimum 200 pages in April. Suppose, a participant prefers to read only one book in April and he/she wants to read a book which consists of 170 or 180 pages. Can the participant do that?

2) Can a participant read children's book/books? Can I read Sudha Murthy's book or Ruskin Bond's book if I want? I really enjoy reading and writing children's stories.

3) Is reading Japanese books (translated versions) allowed? Many Japanese books are nice. Or do we need to read only British/American or Indian books?

4) Is reading regional books (Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu etc.) allowed? Or do we need to read English books only?

5) Do we need to write the page numbers of Amazon's paperback versions or Amazon's hard cover versions? Both versions have different page counts.

No if you're reading only one book, make sure it's at least 200 pages long, or if it's not, then at least try and read a few more pages of a second book so that you can log at least 200 pages. This is a bare minimum that we ask.

2) Can a participant read children's book/books? Can I read Sudha Murthy's book or Ruskin Bond's book if I want? I really enjoy reading and writing children's stories.

You can read children's books provided they are Chapter books - like Enid Blyton, or Roald Dahl etc. Illustrated books with only few words per page aren't allowed.

3) Is reading Japanese books (translated versions) allowed? Many Japanese books are nice. Or do we need to read only British/American or Indian books?

You can read any book in any language provided you are able to provide a page count

4) Is reading regional books (Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu etc.) allowed? Or do we need to read English books only?

See answer above. You need to give the name of the book and the author & if it's a language other than English please also log what type of book it is - fiction/ non-fiction and give a genre

5) Do we need to write the page numbers of Amazon's paperback versions or Amazon's hard cover versions? Both versions have different page counts.

Yes both are only slightly different though usually. If you're reading a physical book, then I would say log whatever format you read in. Meaning if you're holding a paperback, then log number of pages in the paperback. Similarly for hardcover. For ebooks just use paperback page count.

Thank you so much for answering all the questions! Please sign me up. I would like to participate. However, I'm a slow reader. So, I can read only 1 book in April.

Lizzie, I have one more question. I was thinking about reading a thriller in April. I bought the paperback version of that book a few months ago. I went to Amazon's app and saw the page numbers were 272. Then I checked the book which I have in my house. Yes, there are 272 pages in the book. However, the story only consists of 257 pages. So, should I follow the number written in Amazon's app or should I write the number which the story consists?

Amazon usually includes all pages - acknowledgements, foreword etc, so if you use that it's fine. That's why we said in the Rules to just use Amazon's page count for everything so that it will be standard.
