Name : The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo (Part Of The Millenium Trilogy)
Author : Stieg Larsson
Genre : Crime Thriller
Riveting! A mystery almost 40 years olds, white collar crime, journalism ethics, violence against woman, Sweden's dark past with Nazism, this book covers it all. That's not even including the memorable characters. Initially the primary characters seem preposterously larger than life. Mikael Blomkvist the smooth, successful, intelligent journalist who seemingly leads a charmed life even after being convicted for slander. But he is mild compared to Lisbeth Salander, the pierced, tatooed, anti-social genius hacker with a dusturbing past. But these characters somehow manage to win your sympathy. The characters coupled with a compelling mystery makes this one of the best crime thriller,I have ever read. It's a real pity the author died after competing the final book in this trilogy.

Name: Losing you
Author: Nicci French
Genre: Suspense

The story is about Nina, a mother of two, planning to go on holidays with her new boyfriend. However, the road away from the isolated winter bleakness of Sandling Island seems to be littered with obstacles, frustrating her plans at every turn. Most pressingly of all, her fifteen-year-old daughter, Charlie, has yet to return from a night out.Minute by minute, as Nina's unease builds to worry and then panic, every mother's worst nightmare begins to occur. Has Charlie run away? Or has something more sinister happened to her? And why will nobody take her disappearance seriously? As day turns to night on the island and a series of half-buried secrets lead Nina Landry from sickening suspicion to deadly certainty, the question becomes less whether she and her daughter will leave the island for Christmas and more whether they will ever leave it again.

Why do you recommend it: The premise is interesting and the setting (a small island on the Thames Estuary) has a really repressive feel for the character and I love the way this is written. You can feel oppressive nature of the environment as the major players around the location pull in around one and other with the character still feeling as somewhat the outsider. I am normally not the mystery reader but I loved this book and definitely recommend it

Hey, just been looking through this, as summer has started and I need some good books to read to get me through the holiday. But I'm shocked that no one has mentioned a book I just recently read, or maybe they have and my fast/skimming eyes missed their recommendation.
Anyway, I really hope people read this book, it is exceptional.👏

Name: A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini

Genre: Drama/Historical Ficition |(With a bit of everything else, action, romance..you name it!)

Story Outline: The book may lose its appeal if i try and describe it, all I can say is that it is the story of Afghanistan (which has and is going through rough and tough times) yet the story also revolves around these two female protagonists who get connected in the most dreadful and twisted way. To form a beautiful and touching story.

Real Product description.

Mariam is only fifteen when she is sent to Kabul to marry the troubled and bitter Rasheed, who is thirty years her senior. Nearly two decades later, in a climate of growing unrest, tragedy strikes fifteen-year-old Laila, who must leave her home and join Mariam's unhappy household. Laila and Mariam are to find consolation in each other, their friendship to grow as deep as the bond between sisters, as strong as the ties between mother and daughter. With the passing of time comes Taliban rule over Afghanistan, the streets of Kabul loud with the sound of gunfire and bombs, life a desperate struggle against starvation, brutality and fear, the women's endurance tested beyond their worst imaginings. Yet love can move a person to act in unexpected ways, lead them to overcome the most daunting obstacles with a startling heroism. In the end it is love that triumphs over death and destruction. A Thousand Splendid Suns is an unforgettable portrait of a wounded country and a deeply moving story of family and friendship. It is a beautiful, heart-wrenching story of an unforgiving time, an unlikely bond and an indestructible love.

Why do you recommend it: It is so horrific and mind boggling as well as blowing, yet its written in such a beautiful way that it makes you want to read it again. So dreadful yet so amazing!

Other comment: Must Read IT!

Rating(scale of 1-5, 5 being the best):
5!! ^^If the above has not already hinted so!

Name: Wuthering Heights
Author: Emily Bronte

Genre: Revenge, Tragedy, "Gothic Romance"

Story Outline: Spanning over roughly 35 years, Wuthering Heights tells the story of the Earnshaws and the Lintons, Heathcliff is an orphan who is adopted by Mr. Earnshaw on his trip to Liverpool. Mr. Earnshaw raises Heathcliff as if he was one of his own. Hindley hates (In this instance, "hate" certainly is NOT too strong a word) Heathcliff and sees him as an usurper - of his father's affections, and of the property of Mr. Earnshaw. Conversely, the wild and savage Catherine becomes Heathcliff's constant companion. He violently falls in love with her. Her perceived rejection of him motivates him into wreaking havoc into the lives of the Earnshaws and the Lintons.

Why do you recommend it: What is so great about this story? Well, that is a relatively simple question: the prose is intense and emotionally-laden, the characters are unforgettable, the structure of the novel is non-linear which gives the impression that the past is forever linked with the future and accentuates the theme of transcendence of love, and a glance at a haunting obsession.
The literary features aside, the characters of the book are intriguing. Bronte manages to evoke both anger and sorrow for each character at least once. Heathcliff and Catherine are, without a doubt, the more impressionable characters that will stay with you.
Unlike other Victorian novels which focus on the sunnier aspects of life, Wuthering Heights focuses on the darker aspect of human psyche and passion. Bronte steers clear of 19th century stereotypes; as such, there aren't any charming or pleasant heroines, or the good handsome guy waiting to sweep his godly maiden off her feet. There are, however, realistic characters who have faults and strengths. It can be argued that Bronte tends to focus on their flaws more than their strengths.

Other comment: Wuthering Heights is not the greatest love story ever told. A few of the adaptations (Oberon/Olivier version, especially, despite being enjoyable certainly isn't accurate) take liberties with the character -- to the point of the original characters being near unrecognisable. So, if you go in expecting to be wow-ed by the love story of Catherine and Heathcliff, you'll probably be disappointed.
The story is written in Old English and some words are antiquated. However, someone familiar with the works of the time should not find this too overwhelming. Keeping a dictionary in arm's reach will resolve this issue :)
If you're looking for something like Jane Eyre given that Emily and Charlotte are sisters, you'll be sorely disappointed. The writing styles of these two sisters couldn't be farther apart. On the other hand, if you did like something by Anne Bronte, you might - for lack of another word - "enjoy" the book.
The characters aren't lovable; you can easily understand their motivations but you might find it hard to sympathize with them. The opening two chapters, while necessary, can seem off-putting enough to put the book away for a while. Nonetheless, it is such a fantastic book that superlatives such as "fantastic" are not enough to describe it.
Watch for the scene where Catherine and Heathcliff have a confession of sorts. It is filled with as much scorn and vehemence as it is with adoration and love.
Rating(scale of 1-5, 5 being the best): 5/5 - I rarely think that books are written so well to be given 5/5 but in case of Wuthering Heights, yes, I think that the rating is certainly merited.
Regardless of whether or not you might enjoy the work, I think you owe it to yourself to try ;)
