I'm bored, so starting a discussion: What are your biggest pet peeves or turn-offs while reading a book, something you just can't stand? (It can be a really minor thing). For me:
- Love Triangles - can't stand them. So many books (mostly YA) which I thought looked good from the synopsis but which I never bothered reading because I found out about the love triangles.
- Whiny characters - especially leads, or secondary characters, unless the character is really meant to be annoying.
- Poorly Edited Books - seen this with some of the cheaper editions of old classics. Really annoying. One or two typos are understandable; repeated errors? Nope.
- Endings that make me go: that's it?? Hasn't happened all that often but when it does it's very unsatisfactory, I feel like I'm missing a chapter or something.
