Aamir and Baweja-Been there, done that!
Though producer Harry Baweja was confident that Aamir Khan would relent to his request and postpone his nephew Imran Khan's launch vehicle, JAANE TU YA JAANE NA (JTYJN), it did not happen. And the situation is that Harry Baweja's handsome son, Harman Baweja's debut venture, LOVE STORY 2050, is releasing on the same date as JTYJN that is July 4th. The reason behind turning down the request is now obvious. Since both the movies belong to different genres, trade feels that there is enough space for both the movies to perform, though the lower priced, JAANE TU YA JAANE NA, appears to have the edge.
Coming back to our headlines, it is just a case of history repeating itself. Fourteen years ago, Aamir and Harry were locked in a similar battle of releases. The date was 4th February 1994 when MADHOSH, produced by Aamir's father and DILWALE, directed by Harry Baweja released. Although DILWALE did not star anyone from the Baweja family, MADHOSH marked the debut of Aamir's younger brother, Faisal Khan. Incidentally the winner on that occasion was Harry Baweja with DILWALE.
Well we are quite sure that Baweja must be hoping for a repeat of the same!
