Considering their latest track record, it's not surprising at all!
Yash Raj Film's movie 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' sounds like yet another lousy film. There are huge chances that the movie which is releasing today won't be worth watching.
Maybe that's the reason why they are being so under-confident and shaky about things.
By the way, looking at their string of mega flops, their cowardice isn't unnatural at all.
These days the small movie 'Thodi Life Thoda Magic' is giving them the sleepless nights.
A few days ago I reported how 'Thodi Life Thoda Magic', the movie produced by failed actor turned sidey producer, Saahil Chadha is going to have a major title clash with Yash Raj's 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.'
What added fuel to the fire was the fact that both the films are getting released on the same day!
According to Saahil, he registered the title of the movie long time ago while Kunal Kohli named his movie a few months back.
He says, "I had registered my title two-and-a-half years ago and Kunal Kohli has kept the title two months ago, in April. In spite of my objection he kept the title."
Well, everyone knows how Yash Raj likes to have its way every time. Come on, don't they have to maintain their all powerful image in front of the world?
But what on earth gave this 'forever a wannabe' guy the guts to schedule the release of his movie on the same day as Yash Raj, when there was already a tussle for the title?
Was it so necessary?
Maybe he realised that with his kind of stars and storyline, his movie will be crappy as hell. But for the sake of a little publicity he went ahead with the release date.
But now this very little publicity stunt has backfired on him.
Sahil says, "Till Monday, all multiplexes we contacted had no problem and they agreed to release the film. But all of them backed out at the last minute and refused to release his movie."
Now this can very well be termed the Yash Raj effect. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that the multiplexes have refused to release Saahil's movie because they have been ordered by the high-and-mighty Chopra's.
To add to his agony they have also told him that they'll first check out the response of the movie in single screen theatres and only if the movie is good enough, they'll release it in the multiplexes.
Now all those who were keen (obviously mostly friends and relatives of Saahil and his actors) to watch the below par film will have to hunt for single screen theatres. Since there are very few such theatres left in the city this one's going to be a mammoth task!
But I was left surprised about the kind of insecurity that Yash Raj felt because of a mere wannabe. First they tried hard to postpone the release of Saahil's movie but when that didn't work, they took this drastic step.
It's great if they realised that they are no longer the ones who rule the industry.
Chalo issi bahane, if poor audiences are spared of some extra torture, I will stay happy!
