Okay finally as promised to many including Rajeev here I am with my review on Aamir. But before that I would like to congratulate Rajeev for making it big.👏 A really happy moment for all fans. But more than that it is also a big moment for India Forums. Rajeev making it to Bollywood and now with his next project already going ahead, few more there in his pocket can be called a Bollywood Star. And maybe the ONLY Bolly star who is also a MEMBER OF INDIA-FORUMS!!!!

Now with the review.

The best part of the film is its realistic effort and the shock it gives to the viewers. Shot at actual locations like the by lanes of Mumbai or shoddy houses, it gives totally different effect. It is not like a regular Bollywood movie which has entertainment or heroines dancing or iten numbers or as matter of fact the hero always taking the upper hand. Its too realistic and the climax leaves you with a feeling of disappointment and unfulfilled feeling, something exactly what the film want to convey.

The film shows how an innocent man can easily get embroiled in the trap of terrorism or other dark acts in our society. Here's a doctor coming back home from London but instead finds himself in the trap of terrorists who uses him in the name of religion to create terror. Film maintains this thriller feeling almost throughout. Yes at places the scenes got bit dragging. But being a debut team they did a marvelous job. Too many films have been made on this issue but the difference of them to Aamir is that this does not show anything unreal while trying to preach you something. There's no moral story being given to the viewers as is done in usual case for such subjects.

The background score done by Amit Trivedi is fabulous. Its bit erratic and somehow while watching the film this very erratic score is what works on your subconcious mind and give that suspense thriller feeling. Camera man is also on his debut I think and he did a wonderful job too. With the erratic music this erratic camera movement is what gives you the creepy feeling and makes up sit upright throughout the film. Gajraj Rao the villain is just fantastic. Too competent acting!!!

Now to come to Rajeev Khandelwal. Here's an actor who made it big on TV and now making a debut in bollywood. But his acting is way matured. Yes there are points where he need to work upon to make it really big. As far as his expressions went he was too real. But his dialogue delivery were not matching with the expressions at times. Rajeev seriously need to work bit more on his dialogue part. That will make him a real force in Bollywood to reckon with. Big Kudo's to him for taking up such a film. The camera was on him almost all the time in the film and it was a big responsibility on his shoulder as he alone had to carry off the film. A role that he did too well.👏👏

Well as the box office is to be taken the film is a hit. Never did the team claimed for a big blockbuster hit as this was an offbeat film. Hit or no hit the film has made its mark and so has all the team members. If today the film is running in the halls and people are going there to watch it then its totally on it's merits and not on any other factor. Rajeev made the right decision to take this film to start his journey into Bollywood. He made his mark as an actor!!! And that is what matters most. So many TV stars tried their luck in Bollywood (Baring SRK) but how many could make such a mark in their very first film.

Yes Aamir is a film worth watching. Not because it is of Rajeev. But because its a well made film. Its worth watching because of its merits. A team work that too of debutants has made a really good film. I won't be too surprised if the film gets nominated for many of the awards for the year 2008. How many it wins is something else as still half the year is left and more films may come which could be better than Aamir. But definitely this film and its team will get nominated.

Its a request to the members that PLEASE don't put out the climax or any such part of the film in the topic. This is a general review and so please don't turn it into a spoiler for others who are yet to watch the film.

That is a great review.👏

Wow,... that sounds extremely promising.👏 I just wish the promotion of the film takes off overseas. Here, the grocery stores don't even have posters of the film but we are pestering them and with it being a hit in India I hope we get to watch it here and soon.Waiting for the film to hit the theatre as well. Will surely make a trip to the theatre to get the effect .Now the wait is killing me....😆

Interesting review and seems to be a really well made film. Its remarkable that a team of debutants coming up with such a beautifully made film. 👏👏👏

I haven't seen the movie until now as it has not been released at my place and plus it is also not out on DVD yet, although Sarkar Raj is. So can't say much at the moment, but i guess after watching it my views are not going to be anything different from all the positive, encouraging and appreciating reviews i have read until now - including this one.

I agree with Adi Bhai and Ravi that abroad the movie hasn't been well promoted, unfortunately. A few days back i went to a video shop and asked them if 'AAMIR' is available on DVD and they were like, does such a movie even exist?😕.

For those wondering how can a movie be available on DVD just a few days after its release, then all i will say is black market and priacy ka kamaal hai bhai...😆

Anyways, i guess waiting fruit is sweeter, so will wait patiently to watch the movie.😛

Lastly, i am very happy for Rajeev.😳 To be honest i was not at all satisfied with him doing such a film as his debut film, but i guess the gamble he played worked for him and proved me wrong 👍🏼. This proves, hard work always pays off.

Hope to see Rajeev's name amongst the Bollywood biggies commonly soon.😃

Proud to be a Rajeev fan...⭐️

Thanks for posting this review brother 👍🏼

You know, over here in the UK, there really wasn't much publicity for the movie... and I think that was quite a shame. I only found out about the movie a few days before it released 😕

You're review seems spot on - the fact that it's a well made and sincere movie is very much consistent with what even the reknown reviewers are saying 👍🏼

One thing I must say is that the day before the movie released, I was wondering about Mr Rajeev Khandelwal's chances of making it big in Bollywood... whilst I was hoping for the best (seeing as he is a fantastic person), I was a little skeptical about his chances. However, the rave reviews and audience appreciation for his work pretty much makes the verdict loud and clear - the man has a brilliant chance 👏

I read somewhere that Mr Rajeev Khandelwal went to a cinema to see how the audience reaction was for his work, and at the end, he got a standing ovation. 👏

I hope that positive word of mouth publicity gives the movie an extended run at the box office - good movies deserve at least that much 👍🏼

I definitely want to see this movie when it releases on DVD.

Thanks again for the honest review brother.

God bless.

Excellent, bro;you've highlighted each and every posit,so beauutifully!!!!

RK's avcting was no doubt, brilliant;but as you said,he has to work abit more on his dialogue-delivery;what I feel is,he was abit too fast with his dialogues;otherwise, his expressions, and all, were excellent!!!A man sitting infront of the Screen, could himself feel the pain in "Aamir's" eyes!!!

Coming onto the movie, now;it was a brilliantly-done job of the Aamir Team. The Direction was fantabulos, and the Music was really touching;moreover, the ppl dint try to stuff those songs into the movie, all the songs fell in the perfect place;and were occasional;which means tht songs did play a big part in this movie.

Now,let's talk abt the story!!!First of all,the concept of the story was really "touching";And,it was "not" unreal,at all! Each and every scene felt soo complete, and relevant to the real-life stories,we come-across,everyday!

Lastly,I would really like to appreciate the confidence of the "Aamir" team!It was such a non-glamourous and non-commercial film;though,it did well at Box-Office;this is what we call a "Blockbuster"!!😉...

I really really appreciate the Aamir team;of mostly, debutants;for such an outstanding job;and ofcourse,RK,who did such a great job in his debut movie!!!I wan't very pleased with RK doing such a movie;but he proved me wrong!!!The movie rocks, and so does Rajeev!!😃

Fantastic review...The entire team of Aamir really deserve the appreciation the team is getting because Aamir is a movie full of debutants but made with utter passion to deliver a quality product which they have quite successfully done so. 👏

It simply feels great to have witnessed Rajeev's journey from television to films and being his loyal fan right from kth days...I got really excited and proud of Rajeev when i found out about him debuting in such a film because i was pretty much confident he will do a splendid job and will be appreciated as a good actor. However, i really did not expect such high level of appreciation of the entire film has recieved...Kudos to the team of Aamir👏

Aamir - Can someone else change your Destiny??

So, An unassuming opening shot…..makes u smile seeing the scene you know so well ,coz u have found yourself in the scene quite often….Either as the actor himself or the person sitting next to the actor………The opening shot will make u chuckle with understanding……..!

After the relaxed first scene, the film suddenly gathers momentum when a person who has just arrived in the country find himself in the midst of utter chaos ,confusion and extreme terror………A cell phone is thrown into his hands and his whole family's destiny starts being written by a man who's intentions are unknown and untold…! What happens?? Does Aamir succeed?? Kya Ek Admi Apni Kismat Khud Likh Sakta Hai?? The tagline catches u on the rebound and turns into a huge "?" and makes u shudder with the thought that the person could have been "U" for all the goon cares !

What follows is a totally pacy movie…….No hold ups or unnescessary distractions, read that as no dance sequences and no herione…….The film moves swiftly from one scene to other……Making u catch your breath in wonder and amazement……..The dialogues are very common and totally relatable…….Infact you might find one or two dialogues which you have said to someone or someone has said them to you……….This makes you chuckle with familiarity on one side and hits u on the head with the realization of the extreme sense of relatability you hold with the character………Aamir's helpless journey to save his family and his meeting with different people whom he doesn't know and will never know but they have the most important involvement in his and his family's quest for life at the moment ! The tale makes your heart bleed for the lead protagonist and makes u pray for yourself " Hume Mehfooz har kadam karna aye Khuda"

Mumbai is shown in its true colour…….U might have seen the metropolitan life of Mumbai in films before……..But here u get a glimpse of the real mumbai.....the slums...the poverty....the actual condition of more than half the people living in the state....U get nausea seeing the scenes but slowly the resentment goes and the reality of the things gets into you and the nausea turns into a full blown hangover……..U are scared to blink ,that u might miss sumthing……..U unknowingly join the protagonist in trying to get out of this mess…….Not coz you have a soft corner for him or even in those dirty environments he looks "Oh sooo Chweet"……..But bcoz ………It is war between common man and undecided forces who are making life difficult on the name of "Qaum"………U have no choice but choose a side…….because the views are soo strong that it wrenches your conscience….!

The treatment of the film is Superb…….U can point out the places and guess where the hidden camera's have been used…….A salute to Rajkumar Gupta for the brilliant Direction……..U are gonna be one busy man Mr.Gupta………Just wait till production houses fall over their feet to sign you to direct for them……..An established master of the thriller genre…The camera work is first rate…….An applause for Alphonse Roy…..The background score is a character of the film in itself……..It totally gets us into the thriller mode……Take a bow Amit Trivedi and i must add excellent n apt music score!

And now…The acting….."A new cast"…….The lead actor has the onus of supporting the full film on his shoulder……He does it and how !! This is a Superlative Performance that will be hard to match for the quite some time now…….And I don't see Harman or Imran standing any chance at the debut awards unless they do something extremely out of the world……..Take bow Mr. Rajeev Khandewal👏……I can see the awards coming your way !😳…..Really,he is the toast of the season😉….! The sincere performance is heart touching and evokes empathy and not sympathy for the character……..Totally in character and in control …….A Pleasure to watch…His eyes convey soo much😳…….U feel you could watch him alone for 2 more hours…….Hell !……Who needs a heroine when u have the hero all to yourself throughout the movie😆…..! Giriraj Rao evokes terror and menace with his performance…..No Gabbar like high-pitched laughter😊…..No self goading….No flashing of power……Though I wish he would eat with some manners…….His style of eating killed my appetite……..hahaha!😆 The characters playing the family of the protagonist is good but forgettable…….U wont remember them, but one feels this is a ploy to reinforce the fact that it's a common face and its like the people you come across on the road and forget….And that it could actually be anyone…

There is a huge debate going on about how it is a copy of Cavite........Arey chodo na yaar.........Enjoy the film and appreciate the hardwork.....Hum baad me sochenge if its a copy or not !

Best Scenes -

I'd luv to point out the best scenes but it'll give away the plot....But yes.........The climax scenes are amazinggggg!!! And soooo well enacted ! They'll take your breath away.....Exceptionally hard hitting !

My Rating : 4/5 (****)😉😆

To see or Not to see : U don't wanna miss this movie……This is gonna bring a sea of change in the way of directing thrillers….. Be the ones to welcome the catalyst for the change with open arms ! Not to be missed……I dunno about u……Im gonna watch it again and it's a movie worth recommending……!!

Luv,

Vandu😉
