During the launch of Karan Razdan's upcoming film Mr. Bhatti on Chutti at Actor Prepares, the acting school run by Anupam Kher, he confessed to one of the craziest things he has done as a die hard fan of Big B.
"When I was new to the city I stood outside Mr. Bachan's house for hours hoping to get a glimpse of him," said the veteran Kher. He said this to illustrate how his character of Mr. Bhatti in the film is a bit similar to his real personality. The trailer of the film shows Mr. Bhatti waiting outside Big B's house just so he could see him.
Thankfully for Anupam those days are history and today he is at a position where he shares screen space with the Big B. Karan Razdan's Mr. Bhatti on Chutti has Kher playing the lead hero and Bachchan doing a guest appearance. The film, the makers claim, is a celebration of Mr. Bachchan's stardom.
The story revolves around a funny bank manager who wants to contact Mr. Bush and share with him his plans of attaining world peace.
The character of Mr. Bhatti, both Anupam and Karan say, has been influenced by Charlie Chaplin and Peter Selles. But looking at the trailer most can make out that there are obvious similarities between Mr. Bhatti and Rowan Atkinson's famous onscreen character Mr. Bean.
The film has only three songs that include the genres rap and bhangra. It features newcomer Bhairavi Goswami and a firangi find of Karan, an Australian named Emma. The movie promises to be a comic film with a serious message.
