It doesn't happen everyday, but when our stars can be persuaded to go wild with their hair, much madness ensues. Therefore, while none of our actors' hair shenanigans have come anywhere close to Kate Winslet's marvellous 'blue ruin' phase in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, here's a look at some really memorable cinematic experiments with hair colour: Kareena Kapoor in Tashan Okay, so chances are the publicity stills for the latest Yash Raj release are just scenes where she's wearing an outlandishly pale wig, but the look is certainly eye-catching. The actress, we think, can actually carry off platinum blonde with flair -- either that or we're too distracted by that bod.

Priyanka Chopra in Love Story 2050 It takes serious dedication to go from generic Bollywood brown/blonde to bright red for a film and while it has been done before -- Anupam Kher went fashionista-effeminate and sported a nearly-scarlet mohawk in Mast Kalandar, back in the day -- the fact is that the ever-voluptuous Piggy Chops could actually make the red look good. Yum.

Rajnikant in Sivaji If all film-based lists were legitimately made on an all-India basis and weren't just skewed towards Hindi cinema, Superstar Rajnikant would likely find a place of pride in pretty much every list. He carried on his larger-than-life traditions effortlessly in last year's biggest success, Sivaji -- and went fair and blonde all at the same time.

In a list like this, a special shout must go out for India's one and only hairstyle-movie till date.

In a world of chick-flicks and random actioners, Bose took the path less travelled and created his own bit of scissor-cinema which featured some pretty adventurous cuts. Not least of all on the actor-director himself. Points for bravery, man.

And isn't it always fun to end a list with a classic? Puri's Mogambo, the finest villain in Bollywood's chequered, bandit-filled history, was also the most fun: a grotesque carnival freak with a bronzed coil of perfectly twirled -- occasionally even Clark-Kentian -- hair that would have been insanely over the top even if he laid off the acid.

Sensational stuff.
