Is U Me Aur Hum a copy of The Notebook?😕

According to previews and other articles, Kajol's character suffers from Alzheimer's and Ajay's character apparently narrates their love story to her, to make her remember......sounds abit like The Notebook!

Apparently Kajol loved 'the notebook' so much that she asked Karan Johar to make a movie based on the book. But KJo was busy with KANK and told her that he has other subjects in mind. That's when she asked Ajay Devgan to make his directorial debut with this as she was sure that this subject shall be well received if given a proper treatment.

The tagline of the film 'Sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people' is from 2006 release The Painted Veil.

I haven't watched 50 first dates. Does the characters grow old in that one? Because in U, Me, Hum Ajay and Kajol also play older characters.

I think 50 first dates was a comedy(?),...i don't remember them growing old in that one.

But U Me Aur Hum seems a tad more serious

At a high profile gathering at Mumbai's Cinemax multiplex, Ajay Devgan's directorial debut U Me Aur Hum was screened. For critics and invitees, it seemed to be an experience they were not prepared for. Most left the auditorium teary-eyed, hugging the actor-director-producer who was accompanied by his wife Kajol, who has reportedly put in a stellar performance in the film. Inside the auditorium, there were intense bouts of silence as people seemed to be completely taken in by the film. Everyone from trade analysts to hardened critics seemed to be of the opinion, Devgan has created "this year's Taare Zameen Par." A lofty comparison indeed, considering TZP has made a successful and critically acclaimed director out of actor Aamir Khan.

Post the screening, even as Ajay Devgan stood beaming (dressed in an orange shirt and jeans) and basking in the glory of the rave reviews (most people walked out giving Devgan a thumbs up), Kajol, the actress whom audiences have been waiting eagerly to see on screen, stood back, letting her husband enjoy his moment in the sun. Actor Sachin Khedekar, who plays the role of a doctor in the film, commented, "I did not realise the impact of the film while shooting it. Ajay looked very confident throughout, almost as if his belief in his film has been reiterated." Ajay Devgan told buzz18.com, "Everyone seems to have liked the film. The feedback has been positive from everyone."
