Soha Ali Khan is known as Saif's younger sister. Often she is called Sharmila Tagore and Pataudi's youngest child. But the actress is slowly carving a very different niche for herself in Bollywood and beyond. Speaking at the launch of Asian Paints Colour Next 2008, we caught the actress in some very different moods.
Here is an excerpt from the interview:
You have worked with your brother, Saif, in a commercial. How was the experience?
I had a lot of fun working with him. In fact it was a great opportunity to spend some time together which we don't get often as he is very busy. And I also liked working with him because I get to learn a lot from him because he has understood the art very well. It's nice when he goes to the monitor and sees my shot and will always suggest what I should do or shouldn't do. So it's very useful that I have a brother who loves me a lot and wants to see me progress and do well.
The Pataudi residence is known for its grandeur. But growing up how much were you allowed to determine the look of your home.
Growing up we weren't really asked for our advice at home. Yes in our own rooms we could choose the colour of just one wall. But in my case I shared the room with my sister whose taste is completely different from mine. So of course we fought a lot because our personalities are very different. She likes blues and greens while I liked the pinks. And so right from our toothbrushes to our dresses we each had our own colours and that exists till today. So thank fully I live alone so I don't have to fight with anyone.
What will your dream home look like?
I'm very moody so everyday my mind changes. So therefore right now my walls are white and cream but now it's been over a year so I'm thinking of getting them changed. And one of the colours I do like is Blush because it's very feminine, confident, passionate… something I associate with myself. My mother has a very keen eye for interior decoration so she has come and seen my home. She has helped me pick a variety of fabrics, wall designs and paintings. Right now my bedroom walls are cream. But I have experienced a lot with fabrics – cushions, bedcovers and paintings. But what I think is most interesting is when you have one wall a separate colour… I'm thinking of painting it blue maybe.
The colour one wears is said to be a direct reflection of their personality. So what colours will we find in your wardrobe?
My wardrobe has all colours but definitely when I am happy I choose vibrant colours. But having said that even when I am sad I pick vibrant colours because they are perfect pick me up. It makes you feel happier when you see vibrant colours.
We often see you in shades of pink. Is it your favourite?
I don't have a favourite colour as such… it all depends on my mood. Today if you ask me it's pink. But tomorrow it might be blue and then day after white. So it really depends on your mood. I love pinks, purples and mauves. Pink for me is a very feminine colour which I am. It's also a very romantic colour…again which I am. It's passionate and soft so yea these days I am in a pink mood.
What colour would you wear when you are angry?
I only get angry when I am hungry. So it doesn't depend what colour I am wearing – it's whether I have been fed or not!
not that many people like her but for those who doo enjoy:)
