Akshay Kumar hones his Parkour skills

26 January 2008 (Sawf News) - Bollywood super star Akshay Kumar is honing his Parkour skill in preparation for his lead role in Warner Brother's first Indian release Chandni Chowk to China, being directed by Nikhil Advani. The 40-year-old has been training in Parkour for the last six months under trainer Daniel from Liverpool, reports Mid-Day. He is reported to have built a Parkour gym in his earlier flat at Lokhandwala (Skypan Apartments) and trains there for four to five hours every day. Parkour, or l'art du dplacement, is a discipline founded by David Belle in France, that lets you move from one point to the other with maximum efficiency in an emergency, overcoming any obstacles in your path such as branches, rocks, rails and concrete walls. Parkour enables you to escape a hostile confrontation. Like martial arts it is a form of self defense. However, instead of teaching you to fight, Parkour stresses on allowing you to escape a hostile confrontation. Practitioners of Parkour are referred to as traceurs, or traceuses for females. Earlier it was reported that Akshay and his co-star in the film Chandni Chowk to China, Deepika Padukone, had trained in Wushu, a Chinese martial arts form that also stresses on self defense but through fighting. Akshay who is currently filming for Singh is Kinng directed by Anees Bazmee with co-stars Katrina Kaif, Om Puri, Kiron Kher, Javed Jaffrey and Neha Dhupia, will start filming for Chandni Chowk to China from February 22 and wrap up in May. The film, believed to have been inspired by Akshay Kumar's own life, features him as a cook who goes to China and encounters further adventures. It will be shot on location New Delhi and in various part of China including Shanghai. Akshay will be next seen on the silver screen in Yash Raj Films Tashan directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya with co-stars Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
