Akshay Kumar hones his Parkour skills
26 January 2008 (Sawf News) - Bollywood super star Akshay Kumar is honing his Parkour skill in preparation for his lead role in Warner Brother's first Indian release
Chandni Chowk to China, being directed by Nikhil Advani. The 40-year-old has been training in Parkour for the last six months under trainer Daniel from Liverpool, reports Mid-Day. He is reported to have built a Parkour gym in his earlier flat at Lokhandwala (Skypan Apartments) and trains there for four to five hours every day. Parkour, or l'art du dplacement, is a discipline founded by David Belle in France, that lets you move from one point to the other with maximum efficiency in an emergency, overcoming any obstacles in your path such as branches, rocks, rails and concrete walls. Parkour enables you to escape a hostile confrontation. Like martial arts it is a form of self defense. However, instead of teaching you to fight, Parkour stresses on allowing you to escape a hostile confrontation. Practitioners of Parkour are referred to as traceurs, or traceuses for females.
