First Look: Reshammiya's new heroine, new look

New Delhi: After several actresses reportedly refused to be cast opposite him, the leading lady of the remake of 1980s hit Karz, starring Himesh Reshammiya, has finally been found.

Director Indra Kumar's daughter Shweta will make her debut opposite the actor-singer-composer in Karzzzz.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Karzzzz is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1980s film about reincarnation.

While Shweta is cast in the role played by Tina Munim in the original blockbuster, Reshammiya steps into the shoes of Rishi Kapoor.

T-Series has bought the remake rights from Mukta Arts for the original film.

Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film also stars Urmila Matondkar, Gulshan Grover, Danny Denzongpa , Rohini Hatangadi and Raj Babbar.

After Aap Kaa Surroor, Reshammiya will once again act, sing and compose the music for the film which will be shot in South Africa, Kenya and Mumbai and will go on floors from January 28.

There's a one reason why all Reshammiya fans can look forward to this one: He will be seen without his trademark cap and will wear his long locks loose.

Indra Kumar's daughter to debut in Karzzzz

Producer-director Indra Kumar's daughter Shweta will make her debut opposite Himesh Reshammiya in Karzzzz. This T-Series project, produced by Bhushan Kumar, is a remake of Subhash Ghai's 1980 film about reincarnation.

Directed by Satish Kaushik, Karzzzz has Urmila Matondkar playing the role of Simi Garewal with Himesh scoring the music as well.

Under wraps

Though everything is hush-hush, and several names of both newbies and known stars were being tossed around for a while, it is reliably learnt that Shweta has been finally pencilled in for the role of Tina Munim.

Bhushan Kumar, who is presently in Dubai says, "We have not finalised anyone as yet. There are two to three names under consideration. I will announce her name in the next three days."
While Indra Kumar maintains, "It is not true."

But a source says, "The name is being kept under wraps as there were others, too, being considered for this role opposite Himesh. After a lot of confabulations, Shweta was singled out for the role. "

As reported in 'Dhak dhak days again' (Hitlist, December 10), Indra Kumar had stated, "Yes, my daughter Shweta is being launched in films but nothing is fixed yet."

At that time buzz was that the duo of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria had even spoken to Madhuri Dixit for a film under their Maruti International banner which could perhaps be Shweta's launch pad.

Adds the source, "But now Indra Kumar has agreed to Shweta being launched by
T- Series."

Kya jodi hai

Incidentally, Indra Kumar's sister is actress Aroona Irani. This makes for a niece-aunt actress combo in Bollywood.

Himesh's debut as an actor, Aap Kaa Surroor, had teenager Hansika as his co-star. Now the singer gets yet another youngster as his heroine!
