Come February, Prachi Desai will no longer be Bani in Ekta Kapoor's Kasamh Se. The actress, who has become a household name over the past two years, has decided to move on in search of greener pastures. Reportedly, the actress' professional life took a leap after she won the dance competition Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 and since then has had filmmakers queuing up to sign her.

Not too long ago, Prachi signed a film, Rock On that also marks director Farhan Akhtar's acting debut. Prachi plays a teenager in the film.

A source from Balaji Telefilms said, "Prachi has been and will always be remembered as the Bani of Kasamh Se. She definitely is the face of the show and gave a big boost to Balaji's already growing popularity. After winning JDJ 2, the actress immediately got the offer for a film with Farhan Akhtar. However, the film's contract stipulates that she cannot be seen on small screen during the promotion of the movie. Understandably, she won't have the time to shoot for Kasamh Se once she starts shooting for Rock On in February."

After Roshni Chopra (who played Pia in Kasamh Se) walked out of the show, Prachi's exit is bound to affect the show's popularity.

Commenting on what will happen to Prachi's track, the source added, "The creative team is yet to decide on what to do with Prachi's track in the show. There is also a chat show with Balaji Telefilms in the pipeline where Prachi will be the host."

When contacted, Prachi confirmed the news and said, "Yes, I am discontinuing with Kasamh Se. According to the contract that I have signed for Rock On, I cannot be seen on the small screen during the film's release and promotion. I guess it will be a good surprise for the audiences too when they will suddenly watch me in a new avataar. Moreover, if I were shooting for Kasamh Se, I would be violating the film's contract. But, I don't know what is going to happen once I finish shooting for the film. If Kasamh Se is on air when I finish with Rock On, I would love to return to it since television is my first love."

She further added, "Although I am leaving the show, I am definitely not going out of Balaji Telefilms, which is like my family. I owe everything to Kasamh Se and Bani. I love being associated with Balaji Telefilms and Ekta who has given me everything."

When contacted, Ekta confirmed Prachi's exit. She said that Rock On's producer, Excel Entertainment did not want her to continue as a TV actress if she wanted to star in their film.

Ekta said, "So, we informed the channel (Zee) and are currently working towards Prachi's exit. But, I haven't yet finalised on who will replace her, but a decision in this regard will have to be taken very soon."

"Prachi will shoot her last episode with us by the end of January. It was a tough decision, but it's okay. Iqbal Khan left Karam Apna Apna, Smriti Iraani left Kyunki… but we went on without any hiccups," added Ekta.
