This is to recall that the Uttar Pradesh government had on Friday (soon after the release of the movie) banned the screening of the film in Uttar Pradesh following objections raised by Dalit leaders who had alleged that the title song had derogatory insinuations against the community. Meanwhile, the state of Punjab has also banned the screening of the movie on Saturday. However, the Punjab government is also likely to follow the Uttar Pradesh government decision to revoke the ban in view of the filmmaker's apology and his decision to delete the allegedly derogatory lyrics from the title song of the movie. The decision of both the state governments will certainly provide a sigh of relief to hundreds of thousand film viewers, especially fans of Madhuri Dixit. Moreover, it would also gladden Yash Chopra, the filmmaker, who must have felt a shock after the imposition of ban on the screening of his highly hyped movie.
