Big times round for aspiring Indian direc

Hollywood now seems to have started taking the talent present in India seriously, as far the talent in the realm of film direction is concerned. This is one area, where Hollywood was still apprehensive about seeking talent from India. But things are now changing and the change agent has been one of the biggies in Hollywood who incidentally is an Indian, Ashok Amritraj.

The acknowledgement about Indian talent having a value has been done manifest from the revenues that the Hindi films are generating from being distributed in USA. So now the time has come to bring along the Indian directors as well, who are in no way inferior in any department as far as directing a film is concerned. The fait accompli of being graduating from a spot boy to an assistant director to a director, at a grinding pace may not be thee for at least fifteen directors who are going to be picked up by this initiative, which Ashok Amritraj has initiated in association with Sony Pix. This venture is going to provide manna from the heaven for fifteen precociously talented individuals to realize their dreams on their own merit and not on the basis of some connections, to translate their dreams into a reality.

With the reality shows becoming staple diet for all the entertainment channels this initiative has also decided to choose the path of reality TV show to select the fifteen chosen ones. The programme has been christened as GATEWAY which would give the platform for aspiring directors to showcase their talent and earn their passport to Hollywood.

The aspiring directors can submit their short films of duration from 2-4 minutes, and from these entries 50 finalists would be selected by SONY PIX on pan-India basis. Subsequently 18 would be selected and would earn an invitation to come to Mumbai to participate in the GATEWAY, which would be the first realty show searching for directors to be aired exclusively on SONY PIX.

The final authority for selection for each episode would vest with Ashok Amritraj and one of the participants would be selected at the end of each episode, and at the end of the last episode all the finalists from each episode would compete to become the winner. For Potential Directors, this indeed is going to be a chance of a lifetime.
