On Kapur's return to India, the two ex-lovers came face to face on Tuesday on the sets of Jab We Met and the source says that Shahid just about managed to get through the shift. "As soon as his work was done he was out of there. It was pure agony for him to see her. He still doesn't understand what has gone wrong for her to change her mind so quickly," says an industry insider.

Shahid and Kareena have dated each other for three-and-a-half years now. And although Shahid's career didn't take off as much as Kareena's Kapur had been a pillar of strength when Bebo was unceremoniously shunned from Bollywood and was sitting at home for close to a year. "Things are only looking up for her now. She was sitting at home doing nothing. He was there all along. And the way she has ended things, he is completely heartbroken and doesn't know what to do. But he is too stable and a very mature person to speak in public. He will not do that. And so he has chosen not go anywhere and is eluding everyone including his friends and family," says another source, "He is dealing with things in his own way. He is looking so lost and shell shocked. Almost ghost like… He is literally looking like someone who is in mourning. It's quite sad to him in this state."

"This whole ruckus started when he was in Canada and so he couldn't come back midway and do anything about it. But the two have parted ways and Shahid is not doing ok. He has completely cut himself off from everyone," says the source, "He doesn't answer his phone, reply to smses or go out other than that day when he went for the shoot. They are definitely off and from where things are standing right now there is no going back!"
