Dutt Free till Sept 27

Sanjay Dutt can enjoy his freedom for at least a month as the TADA court has said that it can only provide him with a copy of the judgement on September 27. The Supreme Court, which granted Dutt interim bail on August 20, has directed the actor to surrender after he gets a copy of the judgement mentioning his six years rigorous imprisonment.

Earlier TADA court had told Dutt to be present on August 27 to collect his copy of the judgement. But judge P D Kode said he would start delivering the copies of the judgement only from September 14. There are 100 convicts who have to get copies of their judgement. The TADA court had awarded the first sentence in the 1993 blasts case on May 19 and so will be handing out judgement copies according to the date of sentencing. Dutt and Yusuf Nullwalla were the last to be sentenced.

The apex court had said that Dutt and five other convicts can apply for regular bail and file an appeal against the TADA court verdict after getting their copy.

Dutt was also asked to be present at the CBI office, the prosecuting agency in the case, once every week.

For the first time since his release on bail last Thursday, Dutt talked to the media outside the TADA court. "I love my people. I love my fans. I thank the press. Thank you very much," he said.
