Ash says Alvida to Karan's project

Has walked out of Dharma Productions' next because she is uncomfortable with a sexy character after marriage; Priyanka Chopra (who has no such qualms) has now stepped in

Aishwarya Rai has opted out of Karan Johar's untitled production, to be directed by assistant Tarun Mansukhani.

The film was to star AbhiAsh, but now Abhishek's Bluffmaster! co-star Priyanka Chopra has quietly stepped in.

Ash had originally committed to being a part of the film but backed out when she got the bound script. According to an insider, the film has a very sexy vibe and that's what made her change her mind.

"Her character has both the leading men Abhishek and John (Abraham) lusting after her. She felt that as a married woman this role wasn't right for her," he adds.

It didn't take her long to convince her producer either. Admits Karan Johar, "Ash is not doing my film anymore. She had to opt out." When asked to explain why she 'had to', Karan elaborates, "Ash had heard the screenplay and agreed to do the film.

But after she got a detailed narration, she changed her mind. She explained her point of view to me and I respect her decision. We then spoke to Priyanka. She was happy to be part of the film and we are happy to have her, so it worked well."

Karan assures us that he isn't disappointed over Ash's turnaround. He says, "It happens. You plan a movie with one person in mind and then someone else ends up doing it. When you see the film, you'll understand why Ash could not do it," he adds.

Insiders say Ash's decision to drop the film will be seen as another chapter in the Bachchan-Khan war. It's been widely speculated over where Karan's loyalties lie, as he is close to both sides but KJo isn't losing any sleep over this.

He says, "We are too close to allow such things to bother us. I'm regularly in touch with Ash and Abhishek. She made a professional decision and you have to respect that."

oh thank god...at least one less ash-abhi film to watch out for....not that I was going to watch any of them 😛 😊 😆
Actually I would have just to see how their chemistry is.....although I have my doubts

What the.. Sure, I'm glad that it's one Abhi-Aish film down but .. I don't think she should've left for such reasons. Sure she's married but that doesn't mean she shouldn't play "sexy roles". She's just acting and as an actress she's gunna have to do a lot of things .. I actually wanted to see her in this film

I am glad she is no longer a part of the film! Ash is coming in too many films with Abhishek, their pairing would get boring fast! So she made a wise move.

hmm..idk about that Swati..if Bachchan fam was really bad about Ash wearing them clothes in D:2 before marraige..then imagine what will happen after marraige!😛

Is being traditional or changing how you portray yourself after marriage a bad thing? I think good on her if she wants to do that as she obviously has her own set of morals she wants to live by.

Do you think other married actresses continue to do the same roles after marriage?

Kajol has done some scenes with aamir in fanaa. But it's ash choice and it's good she being extra carefull.

well i respect ash for her decision..i neva expected dis frm her but soo glad she took dis step...well may be she wanted 2 do da role but her wearing small gestures n playing a sexy role would not be much appreciated by da bachans...its gr8 dat she opted out..plus ash will be seen wid john in another luv story n wid abhi v r already tired of seeing dem together..priyanka stepping in is a plus point..its a great advantage for da film
