With the ongoing The Indian Festival in London, it didn't come as a surprise to see Yashraj Films inviting Queen Elizabeth II for the high-profile premiere of Chak De India at Somerset Hall. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, which premieres on August 9, is a highlight of this festival. However, thinking heads at Yashraj Films are yet to get a confirmation from the Queen's representatives. Says a reliable source from the production company, "We expressed our desire to have the Queen over for the premiere to the London Mayor Ken Livingstone. He has communicated our message to her and we have sent her a formal invitation. If all goes well she will be gracing the premiere."

Post-Shilpa Shetty's Big Brother stint in UK, anything Indian generates a lot of curiosity among Londoners. This led to the London Mayor and our tourism department settle for a three-month-long festival focussing on Indian art, theatre, music, films, food, fashion and business. The Chak De India premiere has been strategically planned to showcase superstar Shah Rukh Khan and give average Londoners a taste of Bollywood films.

A reliable source says, "If the Queen of England cannot make it, the Mayor Ken Livingstone will surely be there. Yash and Pamela Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri and director Shimit Amin are expected to attend the premiere."

Yashraj Films prefer to maintain a stoic silence over the grand premiere. Members of the production house's London office refused to comment on the issue. Monika Bhattacharyya the spokesperson of their Mumbai office was reluctant to give out the details. "I'm not handling the London premiere. So I wouldn't know the details," she said.
