The bookies, who were out to make a fast buck on Sanjay Dutt's expected verdict, have been arrested yesterday in a police raid. Mumbai-based bookies have been accepting bets on the sentence likely to be handed out to the actor in the Mumbai bomb blast case of 1993. According to sources, across the country, bets worth Rs 1.1 million have been laid on the actor's fate. Meanwhile the actor was present at the TADA court yesterday when the judge pronounced the death sentence on Yakub Memon. The actor is believed to have turned pale when the sentence was announced. He is later believed to have told the media outside the court that he was scared and nervous. Dutt's fate is likely to be decided on Tuesday, July 31st. he is hoping that the day will be as lucky for him as it was on Tuesday, November 28th, when he was acquitted under TADA. Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act for obtaining an AK-56 rifle, a 9 mm pistol and grenades from co-accused Abu Salem before the blasts. |
