Arshad Warsi's upcoming movie Dhamaal has an all male star cast and no heroine! And the comic actor says they truly had Dhamaal while shooting for the film. Apart from Arshad, the movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh and Ashish Choudhry.
"All we did was have a blast on the sets. First of all the film is a full fledged comedy coupled with people who have a great sense of humour. You can imagine the scene… it was masti before, during and after the shots…jokes, comments, one liners… you will see quite a few in the movie which were actually taken later on from the sets. Like there is one scene where Ritesh is mimicking Sanjeev Kumar… that was one of those times we had lot of fun on the sets and it was taken in the movie," says Warsi.
However, the actor admits that not having a female lead on the sets does have its drawbacks. "I think it's fun when you have a heroine on the sets yaar. Everyone is on their toes, everyone is trying to impress and look good. When there are boys then everyone just goes around… bas padhe rehte hain…there is no excitement on the sets."
"I think we had such a great time largely due to the star cast of the movie. Ritesh has a tremendous sense of humour. I know Ashish very well and he's a really nice guy. Jaaved's sense of humour is also great… All of us had so much fun together that we didn't miss having any women on the sets. But I think if it had been a boring star cast then we would have surely wanted to have an actress," adds Arshad.
Arshad also says that Dhamaal is more like Hollywood blockbuster Ocean's Eleven and the sets definitely felt like an all boys club.
The actor popular as Circuit from Munnabhai things that right now it's great to be an actor who can handle comedy in Bollywood. "Today eight out of ten films have comedy as the genre in Bollywood. So that means actors like me get more offers and almost every other movie comes to me these days. So I'm definitely lucky to be here at this moment. I think another actor who has capitalised on changing trends in the industry is Akshay Kumar – he has done action, comedy, love stories… and that's the way to survive in this industry," says Arshad candidly.
Indra Kumar-directed Dhamaal is expected to release in September and is an all out comedy revolving around the star cast trying to acquire a large sum of money.
