Vivek AKA 'Maya Dolas' with dad Suresh Oberoi at his 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' premiere at Inorbits at Malad in Mumbai
Some 300 odd policemen with over 1500 rounds for fire of the course of six hours, is what it took to kill gangster Maya Dolas and his gang of four in 1991 and this is the basic premise of 'Shootout At Lokhandwala.
Apoorva Lakhia has compiled an ensemble cast of Big B, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Arbaaz Khan and many more for the bloodbath. Maya Dolas a character played by Vivek Oberoi, created an extortion wave in the 1990's as he demanded money from businessmen and big names from the Bollywood industry.
Maya become a threat not only to Mumbai but, also to the underworld based in Dubai as he dared to disobey the 'Bhai'. Vivek Oberoi is exceptional in the movie, the actor is back with a big bang and has delivered a complete shootout performance.
Amrita Singh plays Vivek's mom and she is terrific as well. Dia Mirza is playing a journo, who covered the encounter story and the actress has delivered a matured performance. Tushar Kapoor has moved to a different genre with 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' as he has shed his good boy image to play a contract killer.
Aarti Chhabria impressed us with her hard-hitting performance especially in the climax scene. Of the vast star cast, the performances that standout are of Arbaaz Khan, Rohit Roy, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Shetty.
Apoorva Lakhia has managed to steal the show this time. Although his first two movies bombed at the box-office, he sure struck gold the third time.
Shootout at Lokhandwala is eye opener as it uncovers the games that the cops played with the mafia prior to the media expansion.
'Shootout At Lokhandwala' is a must watch especially for Vivek Oberoi, who has got his groove back.
