FLOP SHOW: The jaadu of Chore Ganga Kinare Wala could not work in favour of Samajwadi Party.
The mathematics of UP elections
Allahabad: Through his ads, Amitabh Bachchan virtually campaigned for the Samajwadi Party during the UP elections but with little impact on the electorate is by now well known.
That they also failed to register in Amitabh's home city of Allahabad, where he once won a Lok Sabha election, may seem a little surprising.
The loss of Samajwadi Party in all the seats in Allahabad, perhaps serves another reminder that the Bachhan power is limited to the big screen.
Out of the 11 seats in the volatile Allahabad district, eight of them were bagged by BSP.
The jaadu of Chore Ganga Kinare Wala could not work in favour of the Samajwadi Party. Even established leaders like five-time MLA and State BJP president Kesrinath Tripathy had to bite the dust from Allahabad.
Even if Bahchan is there on hoardings, the numbers of Amitabh fan clubs are dwindling. Even distant relatives have been feeling left out after they were not invited for the wedding of Abhishek and Aishwarya
In his ad campaigns, Amitabh had said he would like to be reborn on the banks of Ganga but its clear that when it comes to voting preferences, that's not enough to sway the Allahabadi.
