John- Arshad War!!
[14 May 2007]
A cold war has sparked off between John Abraham, the handsome hunk of bollywood and Arshad Warsi aka Circuit during the shooting for Vivek Agnihotri's ' Goal' in London. Both the stars are playing the characters of soccer champions in the film but John Abraham did not like the director giving Arshad Warsi equal importance in the film sequences. John thought himself to be a bigger star than Arshad and hence wanted more scenes in the film for himself. The dislike between the actors reached to such a proportion that John refused to hug Arshad as required for a particular sequence of the film.
As an eyewitness explains, ' The scene required John to hug Arshad, but John refused outright. Instead, asked Vivek to change the scene. Vivek blatantly snapped, ' Please keep your personal problems aside and then come to work.' Arshad kept his cool and he did not show any disrespect for John or Bipasha.'
In fact, when Vivek Agnihotri had started the London spell for his film ' Goal' a few months back everything was hunky-dory between John and Arshad and the two had even developed a friendship between them after working together in Kabul Express. John Abraham had even made a guest appearance on The Bigg Boss which was being hosted by Arshad Warsi. But as the schedule progressed several contentious issues cropped up between the two. One of the reasons was the Arshad's homesickness as his wife was pregnant and he would sit alone on the sets and this would give signal to others that he was acting pricey after the success of his films Lagey Raho Munnabhai and Kabul Express.
Meanwhile, director Vivek Agnihotri has buckled under the John- Bipasha's star pressure and reworked some sequences which give more limelight to Johan Abraham than Arshad Warsi. Arshad knows thsi but has decided to keep mum for the time being. But the tension between the two was clearly visible on the sets as they would maintain a safe distance from each other while doing their part of work with professionalism.
However, Bipasha Basu, who bore the brunt of some white racism in London due to her skin colour, would openly throw tantrums on the sets if called by the director before the shot was ready and she was made to wait for a few minutes. But Vivek Agnihotri tolerated all this as he had to complete the film on time otherwise the budget would have skyrocketed. All for a good Goal, what say!
