Actually, Ash going to her sasuraal is no lame excuse. Grihapravesh is a traditional hindu rite done on the day after the wedding when the bride bids bidaai to her home and enters her sasuraal. It has to be done before sunset as all auspicious rites are. I don't think its fair for the media to come in the way of someone exercising their religious rights.
