Many movies are moving their release dates far away from Yash Raj's 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' — while 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local' was delayed almost by a month, not a single movie will release even a week after the Saif-Rani starrer hits the marquee.
"It's been the norm that when a big film comes in, you automatically postpone your movie by a week or two," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. "I feel it's a very wise decision to stay away from a big film. The audience will but naturally look forward to the film with a bigger star cast and other movies might suffer." Agrees Sanjay Khanduri, the director of 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local'. "We wanted our movie to have a good running time. So, we felt it would be better to release it after 'Ta Ra Rum Pum'."
But Siddharth Anand, director of 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' says, "Being nervous of competition is the case with everyone, be it me or anyone else. But with loads of multiplexes around, there's the potential of three to four movies being released every week without eating into each other's business."
