When the Bachchan announced Abhishek Bachchan's marriage with Aishwarya Rai on April 20, the first question on everyone's mind was who would be invited and who wouldn't. The Bachchans had been insisting right from the start that the wedding will be a strictly low-key affair where only the 'closest' family members and friends will be invited to bless the couple.

But, the sangeet ceremony that was celebrated on April 18 was far from 'low-key'. Much of the film industry showed up, from like Dia Mirza to Raj Kanwar to head honchos from corporate houses and people from the ad industry (thanks to the innumerable endorsements).

The strange fact is not who is invited, but who isn't invited for the wedding. So who is 'close' according to the Bachchans? From the look of the guest list the Bachchans consider those they are currently working with as 'close' friends while others are 'not so close'.

And talking of low-key affairs! Since when are more than 350 guests, a wedding card that could be mistaken for an artefact, chocolates from Switzerland, designer clothes, a sound proof structure, the venue designed by set designer Nitin Desai, serial numbers on cards (to prevent gate crashers), 100 air conditioners, an opulent doli for the to-be-Bachchan-bahu and exotic cuisines considered low-key?

The question here is not the no-holds-barred celebrations but what the Bachchans define as low-key and 'close' friends.
