Jimmy Sheirgill has just returned from his hometown in Punjab. The actor has been actively campaigning for his cousin brothers there, who are contesting the Punjab Assembly elections.

Interestingly, both his brothers are fighting the elections from rival parties.
Talking about his experience, Jimmy says, "I am not really a political person. I went to Punjab because they are family and wanted me to help them in campaigning. So I did my bit."

Double benefit

When asked which of the two brothers he favours more, Jimmy says, "It's a win-win situation for me. No matter who wins the election, my family will be represented. So I am happy for both of them."

Apart from lending a helping hand to his cousins, Jimmy has also been chosen as a brand ambassador for the Premier Hockey League (PHL) and will cheer for the Punjab hockey team, Sher-e-Jalandar. He says, "I have always been into sports.

In fact, I watch hockey regularly. It's a sport that I am passionate about, so when I got a chance to cheer for my state team it was exciting."
On the work front, Jimmy is looking forward to the release of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya. "It's shaped up as a brilliant film. I hope everyone enjoys it," says the actor, who's next release is Delhii Heights next month.

A while back, Jimmy was regularly spotted with long hair and golden streaks. Now, the actor is gearing up to chop his tresses and experiment with a totally new look. "I'm going in for a makeover of sorts. I plan to chop my hair short and colour it black."

Cop act

Jimmy's next project is the remake of Victoria No 203, which is almost complete. "I play a police officer, so my look is quite different. It's an interesting role from what I have done so far."

The actor was also asked to play a role in a series of short films that Mira Nair is doing on HIV/ AIDS. "Yes, I was offered a part, but I was travelling and my dates clashed with those of the shoot. I would have loved to be a part of this project, but unfortunately, I couldn't."
