In your answers, you focus on brutality...
No idea in which way you got this advice from consulting the forces of the Universe... in my thinking a U/A certificate already says that the movie shouldn't been watched by kids under the age of 12 (if not with adults). But my life experience tells me that even an only A rating would not be a hinderance to let/make children watch it.
Apart from that, I highly doubt that Sid itself would be comfortable with a movie focussing on violence/gore/brutality and - in addition - he's not the one to have influence on the rating...that is something between the producers and the board.
As for Ittefaq, it was a movie that didn't need extreme violence...not the original one, not the remake, nor the story as such...and for crime lovers, it was a good one. Both, Sunakshi and Sid, had acted very well, and so did Akshaye...they definitely had a good story, a good director and an encouraging work environment.
