That passive aggressive ‘ beta, beta’ grated on my nerves. Sanya is great but we shouldn’t forget to acknowledge Kanwaljeet’s subtle portrayal of the passive aggression in such an effective manner.🙌

From a filmmaking point of view, the whole film is completely redundant when the original film is available for free on YouTube. It also has that standard Bollywood problem where everything just becomes glossier in the remakes.
That final retribution scene also feels more effective in the original. It's a minor change but not splashing the FIL with the water completely mutes the scene imo.
From a substantive point of view, I suppose it is helpful to have it remade in Hindi for a larger reach. But I can't help but think it will be met with a "Wow women suffer so much under patriarchy" followed by shouting for mom/wife to get you a glass of water.
Forget change, a little acknowledgement about how these horrors have been normalized in itself is a win at this point. But that shouldn’t stop folks from trying.

I agreed with you BTW mens are avoiding the reality where women felt cheated, heartbroken and depressed even there's a serial with the same concept called dastak where Sohai Ali Abro's character was cheated by Feroz Qadri's character By doing EMA
There was an old serial all on EMA - Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. But they made it into some pavitra pyaar between the husband and the lady he was having an affair with. It was disgusting. It was a Drashti Dhami show. Her fans were so cuckoo. They actually justified her having an affair with her best friend's husband. The same best friend who took her in after her husband used to torture her and beat her and killed her baby.
I've long stopped expecting sense from ITV shows, but when I first heard about the show I was hoping they would deal with EMA with maturity. I wanted to use that show to help women in the shelter I used to work at in Canada. But they ruined it and so I never ever brought it up.
But this movie is really good. It gives you the opportunity to understand that you have some worth more than just being a wife and a cook and handling a home. I plan on showing this to Indian women who come to my shelter here in Germany. Many women come for a refuge for a few days but then return to their abusive homes. I hope this will teach them to actually leave their homes. We're always looking for examples from the entertainment industry that we can use to help these women realize their worth themselves.
I have been seeing reels of this movie all over, and it's infuriating. I dont think i will be able to watch the whole thing.

It is nothing different from what goes on in 99% Indian homes. We all have been the participants at some level, be it as victims or onlookers or even perpetrators.

I agree its literally everywhere, and the worse part is as much as we try if we can only make small changes to our lives but when relatives or elders are involved, not much we can do.
It has to happen across the board in society, it will take time.

Power Of womens
Relative to the movie's story, I would say: the endurance of women but also the courage of women.
