It is true
And I feel bollywood is also insecure of tv actors.
I remember reading a ranveer singh interview in 2011 where he said people suggested him to do tv and he refused because no body becomes a star from tv . There was only one srk and one vidya balan
But the next year only Ayushman Khurana and then Sushant singh proved them wrong
Wahi Kundra tacker and ritwik etc these are some who did the talwe chatting of karan Johar.
Those who respected just their medium are stars today be it tv or films.
There is some truth to that because tv, especially itv, creates overexposure and leads to, I dunno, stagnation in acting skills. People who can watch u on tv 24/7 would rarely spend more than 200 bucks for two hourd of your content. Itv is notorious for not only hammy acting but also bad hours and random script changes.
Also, TV is great money, grassroot fame. without the uncertainty of Bollywood. You are essentially jobless between two movies. Ranveer must have struggled to survive what with only one abroad vacation and whatnot Many talented tv actors work incessantly there to secure the bank.
The actors who are great and transitioned to fims either have arthouse niche like Barun or have had very moderate success like Radhika or Yami. And these people also stopped working in tv after 1-2 shows. Someone like Gurmeet or KSG (who is a great actor) just fails. Also connections really matter. Which is why most suck up to EK.
Character acting is completely different tho.
