Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) is now the top south grosser dubbed in Hindi which is not a sequel as it reaches the 276 crore nett plus mark and is looking at finish around the 280 crore nett mark. This looked an impossible target post the first week as mass circuit contributions came down and generally the trend was not as strong as RRR.

RRR was previously the highest non sequel film from the South with around 275 crore nett but Kalki 2898 AD has taken out that number. The bigger films from the South are Bahubali - The Conclusion and KGF 2 but both were sequels which makes a huge difference especially for a South film which has an established fanbase. In fact its the same for Hindi films though most the franchises here are comedies which dont have the reach of these South films.

The biggest surprise with Kalki 2898 AD is that it has scored very well at the bigger centres and it is these which have carried the film while the trend is opposite for the other bigger South films where other centres have been far stronger be it Bahubali - The Conclusion, KGF 2 and RRR. The film is comfortably ahead of RRR in Mumbai city, Pune, Delhi NCR and Kolkatta though the circuit numbers of Mumbai and Delhi / UP will remain lower.

The hold of the film as no doubt set up the sequel of the film with the potential to put up a huge number as part one has recorded the highest number ever for a first part of dubbed film from the South. The all India collections on all formats will finish a little over 600 crore nett. The collections of Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) are as follows.

Week One - 1,56,27,00,000 (8 Days)

Week Two - 67,89,00,000

Week Three - 31,28,00,000

Week Four - 12,45,00,000

Week Five - 6,54,00,000

Week Six - 2,25,00,000 (4 Days)

TOTAL - 2,76,68,00,000 apprx

Who makes the all India net collection almost 40 cr lower???

Hindi belt can be seen in my post: until yesterday 291.2 cr (more than Telugu now)

I Loved kalki it was gripping had nice action, twists and cinematography. Definitely worth watching. It’s centred around Sumati (deepika) everything is about her and her child even if she is not in the scene. I hope she becomes more commanding if there are more films. I liked the twist regarding prabhas. Amitabh was the best character by far

Very proud of Deepika. This is an excellent win for her and it's even more special that the movie is about her and her child in the same year she is going to have her own child. I'm sure motherhood will resonate more for her in the movies now.

Deepika's central role reminds me of Aishwarya in the PS movies where both films hinged on her. I already know this will cue the haters who will claim that Deepika and Aish are washed up "cameo queens" and that these films were not a success because of them so they shouldn't get any credit....while trying to tout Alia as the #1 heroine because of her 2-minute role in RRR and how that success is purely due to Alia.
