I actually hate all three movies but the non existent chemistry between Katrina and SRK made me want to die.

Bitch got rewarded for it as well. She married her first love and had her ex fiancé (the one she emotionally cheated on) to dance at her wedding. 😭

His love was platonic as a teenager. He fell in love with her as a fully-experienced adult widower who probably had different expectations of love, partnership and even step-parenthood than college wala Rahul. It is as realistic as two childhood friends later falling in love.

Fact remains, Anjali never expressed what she felt for him, we had no way to know how Rahul would have reacted or whether he would have been conflicted about his feelings for her in college. Rahul found her beautiful even then just not sexually. He went after her the moment she stopped taking the jibes like a yaar and got hurt even then. She was a priority even then. We can see the changes, the constant, and growth in his character.

We see none of that for her. Tina was a male gaze, manic pixie character in the first half and Anjali became one in the second half. Anjali expresses her sexuality in the second half; Tina does it in the first. In both the situation, their sexuality is tempered by being good Indian girls.

Was there any instances where Anjali expresses her physical attraction towards Rahul in college? No. Were there any instances of female gaze from Anjali? Again, no.

What is shown is immense care from both Anjali and Rahul for each other — neither attraction nor romantic inclination till Rahul starts falling for Tina.

Now, do tomboyish teenagers/women have no way to express sexual attraction/interest? Do they have no personality apart from basketball and being preoccupied with a clueless dumbass?

Rahul did not know whether Anjali was sexually interested in him as a "tomboy" ergo there was no rejection of the "tomboy" in favour of the sexy, hot girl in both cases.

We don't know how Rahul would have reacted to Anjali had she not turned into feminine- but-sanskari girl in the second half just because Karan did not write that. Karan just doesn't know how to write women and has a very particular caricature of "women to be loved."

Anjali and Tina were the worst-written characters of the film imho.

A better example of where the hero shows explicit bias between two available romantic prospects is actually Mujhse Dosti Karoge where Hritik's character just falls in and out of love per convenience. Rahul's character is not that.

I agree with it. As much as I found the movie stupid, Anjali didn’t even confess to Rahul, who knows how he would have reacted? Anjali and Rahul were chuddy buddies, he probably saw her as one of them “boys” back then, and when you are the best of friends with someone for so long, you don’t tend to see them in a different light all of a sudden, it happened with Anjali but didn’t happen with Rahul. He happened to fall for Tina instead who was more “easy on the eyes” and that’s okay, it was his preference, had Anjali confessed to him, then we would have known his feelings then and there. When Rahul saw Anjali in a saree all those years later, he was first seeing her “as a woman” in a different way, he felt physically attracted to her, doesn’t mean that he didn’t love her for the way she was, may be that love was there all along and he didn’t realise it, may be he later grew some feelings and acted upon them. Gosh it’s just a dumb film and here we are discussing it years later with paragraphs after paragraphs smiley36

Like girl was dumb af and never grew out of it.

Imagine risking your education because you had an unrequited crush on some dumbass, then you leave him without a clue, change your entire personality fpr a man (you plan to never meet no less), then risking stranding a perfectly good guy in a loveless marriage for absolutely NO REASON.

Sorry the first thing he did after seeing her in a saree was not "see her as a woman" but cry out of sheer emotions. Same as when she left as a "tomboy."

Gosh Karan is overwhelmingly sexist, it is cringe

Oh I guess I am talking about that “rain dance” sequence, my bad, he saw her for the first time in a saree in that summer camp, I forgot about it.

I think love works that way, Aman was a super good guy and a total green flag, but after all those years she still couldn’t move on from her first love, so there was no point in marrying Aman, she was still willing to go ahead with the marriage but Aman sensed better, neither of them would have been happy had they married each other.

That's the fact. In this song, Rahul n Anjali are remembering their old days. They are same from inside but matured from outside. For Rahul, it was perfect combination coz anjali was looking attractive n she was his friend also

I don't know about the sarees, but he definitely started to feel something for Anjali he hadn't before.

We won't know if his feeling for Anjali had changed if Anjali had told him about her feelings when still in school with him.

I didn't like that Karan made Anjali looking more feminine through the clothing instead of just making her more mature. To me, it seems that Aman (Salman) didn't even know about Anjali's other side (the more boisterous one).
