Celebs call out for boycott Maldives - Page 12

Why are certain people having a problem with anyone pointing out the seamier side of travel destinations like maldives? Where else should such issues be highlighted?

I don’t know what is interesting about that county. Bipasha and some out of work people promote that county for some money.

The PM of India showed the beauty of Lakshadweep, which is a part of India and asked people to travel and see the place.

Fyi Lakshadweep and Maldives are in a similar geography so the islands are beautiful.

India makes up more than 30% of travel to Maldives, even if 10% of that goes to India places, it will help the economy.

Maldives ministers screwed up by making fun and in fact were being racist to Indians.

Also unlike middle East where a lot of celebs own property, no one has a stake in Maldives.

This racism against Maldives pissed a lot of people off and were called out on social media. This was quite an organic outrage which was also helped by the IT cell.

In this climate it is the Bollywood folks who actually travel to Maldives, when Akshay, Salman started promoting Lakshadweep the rest had to follow as now if a Bollywood celeb promotes Maldives they would be trolled and boycotted

It was not against Modi but the racism against India that outraged people.

Maldives relies heavily on India for tourism plus a lot of Maldive population come to India for medical treatment. It was damage control by government to fire their ministers.

Most actors are paid by some Maldive organization to promote their country. So some of them go there for money.

As if it’s not embarrassing enough to see almost all developed countries in the world have a warning message pasted in their official travel pages against women safety in India and a 5 page rulebook to follow to stay safe.

They don’t give a crap about women’s safety. They’re simply weaponizing rape to show a country in bad light, in this case Maldives is their latest pawn. Bizarre given the fact that Maldives is tiny compared to India or USA, two countries with some of the highest sexual assault rates in the world. But don’t let common sense get in the way of blind jingoism.


Where’s Maldives on this list? No where. But google rape obsessively, pick a random tweet from the internet about rape, paste it on IF to pass a narrative, rinse and repeat. Sickening pattern.
